Account hacked?

I was asked by a stranger to share a file. How does this stranger get this information that I have saved this file on Dropbox. Has my account been hacked?

Hey @MACHOG70, thanks for using Dropbox and welcome to the Community!

When you say someone asked you to share a file, can you clarify if this was a notification from the app or an email notification?

If it's the latter, have you ensured that it's coming from an official Dropbox domain?

When it comes to your concern, you can start by navigating your Security page for possible unknown devices or web sessions etc. while you can also take a look here for more information.

I hope this helps and please let me know of any updates!

Hello Walter,
I got an email from "no-reply@dropbox.com" - Pxxx Gxxx (pxxxxx.gxxxxx@xxxxx.xxx) wants to access your file "xxx_xxx_xxx.xxx". To do this, release it for Pxxx.
My question: where did this person get the information about the content of my Droobox?
I did a security check- everything is OK.
Can I trust in Dropbox? Is there a general "preview" option for all?
The file folder is only for me (no permission for other people)

THX

Hi @MACHOG70, are you certain the file isn't shared in any way, either using shared links, or shared directly

Hello Megan

No there's no shared link or any other link.
I'm still wondering how this person get to that information.
I have a free Dropbox account and there is no support, or is there any?

Support is available at www.dropbox.com/support but depends upon your paid plan.

My guess here is that if this is a public file that you already share somebody else has posted it online and they are just chancing it. OR it isnt even an actual file in your account and its a phishing scam.
