Can I make an automatic backup of files to Dropbox? Also, how to sync files?

Hello. I am a system administrator of an organization that uses a dropbox as a cloud file storage for its employees. In connection with some recent incidents, a question has arisen. Is it possible to make an automatic backup of files to the dropbox to protect them? And how to make automatic file synchronization on the computer and in the cloud?

Hi @Vimpel, thanks for messaging the Community.

Could you clarify what you're intending to backup? Would this be external drives, or system folders?

Regarding your second query, installing the Dropbox desktop application would allow automatic syncing of files, which would also include the deletion of those files.

Any other info or screenshots would be helpful!

Hello, I meant the dropbox setup as raid 1. This is necessary so that if one of the files in the dropbox is intentionally damaged, it can be restored.

Dropbox is just a folder on your computer. It can't be setup as a RAID array. It does, however, have version history for all the files that sync to your account, and they can be recovered up to 30 days since they were last changed/deleted.

As @Rich said, the Dropbox folder can't be used or mounted as a RAID array.

However, There are third party backup apps or services that connect to Dropbox to backup files there directly, so you could check out those services to see if any offer the requirements for your organization. .
