Hey @fakhri8791, thanks for posting your question today.

Do you want to prevent someone from accessing the Dropbox folder on your computer or some files in the Dropbox folder?

If so, at the moment, there's no way to password protect the Dropbox folder, or restrict access to specific files.

You can use selective sync, to unsync/remove some folders from the Dropbox folder, but they'd still be available in the application settings, to be synced back.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Dropbox Community,

I have a question regarding securing Dropbox access from Windows Explorer on a Windows 10 PC. Currently, everyone who uses the PC has access to my files on Dropbox, which raises security concerns. Could you please advise me on how to address this issue?

If securing access from Windows Explorer is not possible, I would appreciate any recommendation for the best solution to access Dropbox from a Windows PC that is both secure and allows for easy file access and drag-and-drop functionality.

Thank you in advance for your help. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best regards

Hey @AbbasV, thanks for reaching out to us today.

I moved your post to this relevant thread, so you can take a look at my response above for more info about this.

I also wanted to add that if you're on a paid individual subscription, you can also use the Dropbox vault feature, as a workaround, to secure your files.

I hope this helps.

If accessing from the dropbox website, or app from a windows PC, can you still drag and drop?

You can definitely use drag and drop, when accessing the vault from your local Dropbox folder on your PC.
