Re: How do I figure out what device triggered a bunch of files to be deleted?

How do I figure out what device triggered a bunch of files to be deleted?

This morning I woke up to find >32,000 files from my Dropbox deleted - the website says it happened around 5am. I need to know who (or what device) triggered this (these are not shared files/folders). How do I figure out why they got deleted?

ciao @Michael L.80

I'm sorry, I don't speak that language so I'm not sure what the answer says.

is it possible to connect to tech support? the CHAT buttons on the website don't seem to work.

Hi @Michael L.80, I hope you’re doing well.

If you visit your Events page, are you able to see more details on this perhaps?

Besides that, if you’re on a paid subscription, you should be able to chat in with our support team via this page. If you’re still having trouble with this, please open another browser on your computer, log in to your account and visit our support page, in order to initiate a chat from there.

Let me know how this goes!

Figured it out (Dropbox tech support replied via DM on Twitter): you can see a file history, which does say which computer issued each event. Still don't understand how this machine (which should have been asleep, not used in the last week, in a locked office) did this, but at least I unlinked it now so it shouldn't do it again.
