New Admin need to picked but cannot access old account

New Admin need to picked but cannot access old account

Hello, 

 

We recently started using our DropBox again and noticed the Admin was an ex employee, and the email associated with that account was their personal, not their company email. We tried contacting them with no success. We need to change the Admin to our most recent colleague. What is the best way to do this?

Hi @icm11, thanks for messaging the Community!

In general, it wouldn't be possible to change the admin on the account if there isn't another admin already on the team. 

As they were using a personal email, you wouldn't be able to access the email using the domain tools.

Since they are technically the owner of the account, we can only suggesting contacting the user again for them to make another user an admin, so that they can make changes to the team.

Keep me updated with any progress.

Hey @Jay ,

 

Thanks for your reply. We contacted our old employee and he has not responded. We also opened a ticket but the response we got was to contact the terminated employee (even though we included he was unreachable in the ticket). We are waiting for their reply to see if there are any other ways to retrieve the admin access to our account.

Hey Jay, thanks so much for helping us with this. The person who is now the admin is unreachable, any suggestion on how to handle this situation beyond this?
