Hi, recently my PC had been hacked. To make sure the safety of my personal docs, I tried putting a security code on my account. When I went in there, I noticed that everyone was Allowed permission for everything. I was surprised and decided to change to Deny. After I did that, it seemed to deny me permission to access my own files and I am the Creator Owner of the account. How can I get access to my folders & files please? Can someone help me?

Hey there, @Peranakan girl, thanks for posting here today!
Are you talking about shared folders? What is your account's plan?
Also, can you walk me through the steps you followed to change the permissions, please? Any screenshots you might have are welcome.
Thanks a bunch!

Hi Megan,
Thanks so much for your response. I have a basic plan for now and had used up about 37% of the 29GB that I have with this account. I went to "properties" and then "Security", and I saw that under "Everyone" Permission for everyone is "Allowed" full access to my folders & files. I was shocked as my PC was either hacked or malware/virus...I don't know but I know that my cursor was being controlled by another party. By pressing the "Edit" key I changed from Allow to Deny.
This is what I see after I clicked "Apply"
After which, I was denied access to my own files. Then I went to CREATOR OWNER and clicked "allow" and then "Yes" to continue as here below
Then I received an error Applying Security. Thus, my access is denied...???
Please tell me how to get this rectified as the folders for my online classes are tomorrow and I need access to it urgently to do my homework.
Many thanks in advance Megan....
Hi @Peranakan girl, in general, 'deny permissions' shouldn't be a default, since it could affect other system operations, which you're currently experiencing.
We don't recommend changing these settings for these reasons, except for this very specific incident, which is unrelated to your issue.

Hey @Peranakan girl, when you go online on the web, are you able to locate the folder there?
Have you also done any research online on how to remove denied permissions from a folder, using the command line on your device? That might help.
