Training for people who don't 'get' Dropbox

Training for people who don't 'get' Dropbox

Hello,

No matter how many times we train our team members, about half of our team members don't "get" dropbox. They keep making copies of shared files to work on them on their PCs and then re-uploading them to dropbox with a new filename, completely defeating about 10 of the best time-saving collaboration features in dropbox.

The online training doesn't seem to address this issue, and hasn't helped. It seems more about changing how people work, people who are often very set in their ways of working and managing files.

Have others run into this and solved the problem?

Anyone doing a great job of teaching new team members?

I'd love to hear any and all advice you have.

Hey @Kbelle, thanks for using Dropbox and posting on our Community!

I'm not sure if this will do the trick, but have you tried our training resources on this page?

Hope this helps and please keep me posted!

Thank you for suggesting that. I did try it, but it didn’t do the trick.  My team needs more “how to” and help changing the way they work.  They are used to emailing files, editing, and then sending them back. Ask them to edit something in Dropbox and they go to the Dropbox app and can’t figure out why they can’t edit. Explain they need to edit in PowerPoint and they copy the file to their desktop, edit it, then copy that back into Dropbox with a new name.

Our staff who grew up with the cloud have no issues and the online training is perfect for them. It’s my people who have 30 years of a different way of working who I don’t know how to help.

Has any one else run into this?

Hi @Kbelle, sorry to jump in here!

Another place that would be really helpful for you to search would be our Help Center. You can find out a lot of processes there and how-to content.

Our YouTube channel can also do the trick, and of course, don't forget that we're here to help along the way! If you have any questions, we can help.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks, Megan! No apologies - I appreciate the response!

Yes, I've searched and searched help, resources, and youtube and haven't found the right thing. That's why I asked the community, hoping to find someone who's experienced the same thing and have a good way of onboarding new team members to dropbox.
