How to change my email address when the email is no longer active?

How to change my email address when the email is no longer active?

I need to change my email address as I no longer have access to the email. (Provider is useless) The instructions on Dropbox help simply don't work. Things are in different places to where they say they are and when you do find the right tab there is no 'edit' button thereby making it impossible. I am using a desktop Mac.

If I can just Create a new account with my current email that would be fine,if there is a way to transfer over all the files?

Thanks for clarifying, James!

In order to change your email address, you'd need to be using the website, not the app. Do you remember the password linked to this account?

I'm asking, because if you can see the email linked to the account, in the mobile app and you recall the password, then you could try logging into it using our website.

If this doesn't work, then what you can do on your end, is download your content, and then create a new Dropbox account, under a different email address, since you can't have an account using the same email address you have.

I hope this helps!

Hi @James b124, you can create the new Dropbox account on the site itself, and then any of the older files from the previous account you have saved to your machine can be uploaded onto this new account (provided you have enough quota to do so).

Hi, I have a similar problem but can't find any edit button. Instead it us written "verify your email address", which I can't do anymore since my email adress us no longer valid.
So how can I change the email address associated to my Dropbox account?

The easiest thing to do is set up a new account. You almost certainly wont be able to I'm afraid.

I'd also suggest downloading everything urgently to make sure you have a copy as if you get logged out you MAY find you cannot regain access.
