Re: No option for "make online only" when I right click my files

No option for "make online only" when I right click my files

I have a professional DropBox account and I'm working on a Mac, OS 12.5.

I have several files that are sync'd locally that I would like to move off my hard drive and make online only. When I right-click on the folders, however, I'm not getting the option from the drop-down menu to make the files online only. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Could you check if you've enabled the Dropbox extension in Finder in the Mac OS settings?

Hey @lauram73, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Could you please let us know the app's status as shown in your menu bar at the moment?

If you could also send us a screenshot of the options you're getting, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Hi Walter,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!

Dropbox is there in my menu bar. Everything seems to be running and syncing properly.

Here is a screen shot of my right-click menu. When I click on a folder in my finder. No option to make it online only.

Thanks for your help!

Hey @lauram73, thanks for the screenshots!

What happens when you try to access the folder shown on the screenshot? If you right click in a file or folder in there, are you able to find the options?

Also, I would like for you to locate your Dropbox icon. It would be on the menu, next to your WiFi and date and time icon. Once you do this, could you hover your mouse there and let me know what the status and version of the app?

Hi Megan,

What you are seeing in the screen shot is what I get when I right click. I don't see any dropbox options. I can access all my files though and they are all up to date.

The status of the app says up to date. The version is 155.4.5493.

Hey @lauram73, you don't see any options even when you access the folder, and try to right click on your files/folders there?

Have you tried uninstalling, then re-installing the app?

Hi @Megan,

Yes, that's correct. I don't see any Dropbox options when I right click on any of the files or folders. I also don't see the circles with the green check marks, but everything is sync'd and up to date.

I did try uninstalling and re-installing the app. No luck. Any other ideas?

Thanks for your help!
