Drop Box Document Sharing and Privacy Settings

I want to be able to share a folder with a recipient and have only the recipient see the files in that folder.  But like others have found, I have discovered that the recipient can see all my folders and all my files by clicking back on Dropbox folder. How to solve this?

Re: Drop Box Document Sharing and Privacy Settings

Hey there @NotGeekSquad - how are you today?

How exactly are you doing this? Do you mind sharing the steps you take that lead to this?

To do what you mention, you'd need to share a link to the folder in question. This will give them view only rights to the specific folder.

I hope this helps and let me know what you find. If you're still having an issue with this, please attach a screenshot of the problem in your next response in order to have a visual as well.

Thanks!

To add some clarity to this...

If you discovered this by testing the link yourself, then that's why you could see all of your folders. You're already logged in to Dropbox and Dropbox knows it's you. Anyone else using the link will only have access to the specific file or folder that you linked to.

To properly test this, copy the share link and open a private browsing session, incognito window, or another browser where you're NOT logged in to Dropbox. If you're logged in, log out first. Paste the link into that browser and you'll see what everyone else will see.

In short, it's IMPOSSIBLE for someone with a share link to see anything other than the specific file or folder that has been linked to.

Re: Drop Box Document Sharing and Privacy Settings

User error. We used the incognito page to view link, and no other folders were accessible.

Thanks for the quick response and help. I really appreciate it.

Best,
