How can I force a download when sharing a link?

Level 2

I'm trying to include a link to download a pdf file. I would like for the recipient to be able to click on the link and the pdf pops right up, as opposed to them having to select "download" since a lot of people will open this from their phones. Is this possible? If so, what is the magic formula?

I currently have the file in the general Dropbox folder, and copied and pasted the link into my email. Are there specific settings that I'm missing?

Thanks in advance.
