How do I share a link to a file?

I need to create a link to a large file located both on my drop box service and or windows file navigator windows 7 and email the link to the shared file to a particular person's email

Hey there @gloriaearly, thanks for posting your question on the Forum and welcome aboard. ⛵I’ve gone ahead and moved your post as the original is more than a year old. 
 
Do keep in mind that you can share a link to a file/folder as long as it’s your Dropbox account. Then, you’ll be able to share the link to your file/folder from https://www.dropbox.com, your Dropbox desktop application, or your Dropbox mobile app. The other user doesn’t need to have a Dropbox account to view the file/folder attached to the shared link, and so you can then send the shared link even by email
