I have a question about space and Dropbox subscriptions. Can you help?

Level 3

I'm looking into Dropbox professional and have 2 questions.  First is, can I send requests (or provide a link) to clients who are not signed up with Dropbox to send me information?  Second is can clients see what is in my Dropbox that isn't from them?  Thanks!!!

Dropboxer

Hey there @dlabrahams - how are you today?

To directly address your concerns now, yes, you're able to open up a file request from your end (i.e. your Dropbox account) where others will be able to upload files (to your account) even without having a Dropbox account themselves (all they'd need is a valid email address) as our file requests feature enables a requester to have files uploaded to their Dropbox account by other individuals.

Moreover, if you'd like to share a folder without impacting the recipient's quota, you can share a link to the folder, instead which allows users to view or download a one-way, read-only copy of the folder. Anyone with the link can view the contents, but can’t edit them.

Moreover, users with Dropbox Business or Dropbox Professional accounts can also set a password or an expiration date for links they create and you can read about it in our Help Center here: https://www.dropbox.com/help/files-folders/view-only-access

You can also review current links and delete them here if needed:

https://www.dropbox.com/share/links

Last but not least, note that every folder you create in your Dropbox is private by default. However, a special type of folder you can create is a shared folder. These folders allow you to share files with other Dropbox users. Please note that while it is shared, it can only be accessed by people you explicitly invite.

I hope this information helps and for more information on our plans, features and pricing you can always visit the following page: https://www.dropbox.com/plans

Let me know if you have any questions!

I guess let me ask it a different way.  Which plan would I want if I wanted to do the following:

1. Be able to put a link on my email signature that clients could link to and upload private documents?

2. Be able to send a link to a client to upload private documents?

3. Be able to upload items to send back to clients?

Thank you!

Any Dropbox plan, including the free Basic plan, offers those features. Both 1 and 2 are covered by File Requests, and 3 is covered by Share Links. Both features are linked above in Walter's reply.
