How long does Dropbox take to reflect freed up space on an account?

How long does Dropbox take to reflect freed up space on an account?

Hi,

I have 6GB of space in dropbox that has been all used.

Then, I removed a set of files (of about of 5GB) and my dropbox didn't (yet) re-calc'ed the free space.

Do I need to do anything to regain that space back?

Regards,

Hugo.

Deleted files do not use quota.

As I said before what is the Share folder using?

That space on the website IS correct. So if its still large you've a large file still hidden within your system somewhere.

How did you remove the files?

It should be instant once they are not showing up at www.dropbox.com/home

So, if you deleted them from a computer you need to give it time to sync to the green tick.

Hey there @hugoca - what does your account's plan tab say?

Note that if your Dropbox account is over quota then only syncing stops. Nothing will be removed and syncing will resume when you bring your account under quota again.  To get your account under quota you can do any of the following:

  1. Upgrade your account – check out www.dropbox.com/plans for other information.
  2. Increase your quota using referrals bonuses or other promotions.
  3. Leave any shared folders that put you over quota.
  4. Move files that don't need to sync out of your Dropbox folder.

Hope this helps Hugo and let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you Walter. I did removed a large set of date away from dropbox (per your suggestion 4.). Still says that I have 7.12 GB out of 6.5 GB used. It shouldn't be that way, since I removed 5GB...

Do they still appear at www.dropbox.com/home ?

What is the 7.21gb quota used as - how much is in Shares?

No. They dont appear on the we, nor on the file explorer.
Little or no files are shared or received via shared folders.

I did remove them first on the file explorer, then permanently delete them on the web interface. Two weeks ago. So drop had plenty of time to sync. Still, no space available yet.

Yes. They aren't on the Windows file system anymore. Then I permanently delete on the web. two weeks ago.
