Storage Space
Looking for help with managing the storage space in your Dropbox account? Talk to the Dropbox Community and get advice from members.
If I click on the little account icon it says "Your account has 7.75GB storage". However if I try to use more than 2GB than I get a warning that it won't sync anymore because it's full. I know I'm on the basic plan, but I used to be able to actually use all of my 7.75GB (the extra space comes from stuff that pre-dates the 2GB restriction on the free account) and now all of the sudden I can't. Anyone know the solution?
Dropbox has always only ever had 2gb as a starting point, but, you can gain more.
If you go to www.dropbox.com/account/plan what does it say there regarding quota? And what is the exact error you are getting when you are trying to use more? What are you doing - trying to add files or a share for example?

I am trying to add files. I don't see anything on that page that says "quota", but under my Personal Dropbox Space it says I'm using 2GB of 7.75GB. The error message I received said that my dropbox was full and no longer syncing files because I've reached the limit of my plan. Though as the above shows I should have another 5.75GB of space which I have used in the past. I cleaned up my files about a year ago which must have dropped it below the 2GB threshold and now that I'm adding some new things in I'm running into a false limit wall.
Hi @beeanimated, thanks for the extra details!
Are you receiving the same exact message about your Dropbox account being full no matter the platform you access it from (website/desktop/mobile app)?
Also, if you can include a screenshot of the space usage you see on your Plan tab, that’d be super helpful. I’d like to have a visual to better see what’s going on.
Cheers.

Thanks for the help! A screenshot of my plan page and the message I received when I tried to upload past the 2GB mark.
Hi @beeanimated, did you use the website to upload the content, or the desktop app?

I guess it would be the app? I put the new files in the Dropbox folder on my computer.
Hi @beeanimated, did you receive the "your Dropbox is full" message on your email, or the app?
Is it possible that you have two Dropbox accounts, by any chance?

The message was sent to my e-mail, but I remember seeing a notice on the website as well. I do have more than one dropbox, but this is all related to the same one. The other one is for work and in a completely separate location.
Hi @beeanimated, can you use the app or website to add content to your Dropbox account?
Do you see them being uploaded there? Or do you receive this message when trying to do so?
