Hi Guys,

My local Windows Dropbox is fully synced with my online Dropbox.  Windows Explorer file/properties shows my Dropbox folder is 576 MB but to my surprise, dropbox.com and dropbox app both say my dropbox is full. I have checked the plan tab and found my regular file size is 3.4 GB which is not correct. My shared folder only takes less than 100 MB. What is going on here? Why the discrepancy? Any inputs?

Thanks,

Tao

Hi @Mika2, in this case, can I send you an email, so we can have a closer look into this?

Megan,

The backup page indicates PC backup of 2GB and the plan page says 2GB basic plan.

So I assume PC backup is consuming my space ? How do I eliminate the backup and I hope that is just a copy of what I have on my laptop.

Megan or Mika2,

Any updates on how I can free up my space ? I think backup has consumed the 2GB. I could remove the backup, but want to be sure I won't lose any personal data first.

Hey @SubbaV, to make sure you don't lose any files, can you try to disable the computer backup feature first?

Does that help with your space issue as well?

Hannah,

Thanks. Could you give me a pointer on how to disable backup ?

For the data which has already been copied to Dropbox backup, I would assume it is still on my laptop, is that correct ?

i.e. it is only a copy of my original data.

I have a basic free to gigabyte plan which is sufficient for my needs.

Recently, I am getting out of  space messages. The message says I'm using 70 GB.  Dropbox has stopped synching.

I have not changed any of my settings recently.

I have reviewed my account and cannot find the 70 GB anywhere. I have also permanently deleted files in the trash

I would appreciate any ideas regarding this problem.

Have you checked your Backups page?
