Storage Space full with no files in the dropbox

Storage Space full with no files in the dropbox

I have a Dropbox Basic account that i been using for years. This week i’m having new issues.

Whenever i have received storage limit notifcations in the past, I was able to remove some files from my account to free up some space.

Now I am getting notifications that my account is out of space and removing files from my account has not made a difference (I have removed every files at this point, and no space has been freed up). I haven't uploaded anything out of the ordinary or particularly large to my account. The files were deleted from Dropbox while using my internet browser.

I’ve already cleared backups.

Current displays:

Desktop app: 4G of 4.5 GB used.

Any ideas for why removing files has not freed up space, or why my space usage is not displaying the same usage in different places? I am perplexed as to why things were operating smoothly and are suddenly not.
