Storage Space
Looking for help with managing the storage space in your Dropbox account? Talk to the Dropbox Community and get advice from members.
My account is telling me I have used 120% of my storage space but there's only 42mb taken up. I have deleted files and looked at other comments regarding back ups and have removed any backups as well. I am not sure why the account is still full.
Hi @LittleDan, sorry to hear about this.
Can you let us know what exactly is reported in your account's plan tab in regards to your quota?
Also, do you see any files or folders listed on this page or this one?
Let me know what you find and we'll take it from there.

I am only using about 2 GB of storage, but Dropbox shows I am using 5.9 GB of 6.8 GB of my storage. I have no shared folders and I have permanently deleted the deleted files.
Where is the 3.9 GB of storage being used for?
I don't have a plan tab but the subscriptions section says DropBox Basic - you have used 2.4GB of 2GB.
Regular files 2.4GB and Shared files 40.5GB
The backups page has nothing in it.
The files section has a couple of get started with dropbox documents which are very small. There's 3 files in there that total 42MB. That's all that's there.
Thank you.

Permanently deleting files doesn't matter because deleted files don't count against your usage. Check your Backups page.

I check both the online and my desktop app.
Hi @boltonj, what is the app's syncing status? Is it up to date?
Feel free to include some screenshots, in order for me to have visual.
