Suddenly missing 8GB. Where is my space?

Hello! My DropBox account suddenly decreased from 10GB to 2GB.  I am not on a paid plan...but had 5GB when I created the account years ago, and then added another 5GB about a year ago.  Would appreciate any insight as to why this happened and how to get my storage space back!

Is it possible that the extra space you’re missing from your Dropbox account was previously added via a promotion which has now expired?
