Storage Space

I got an email recently telling me that I have only the basic plan and yet I hav 4.75GB of files uploaded. This was because I've been using dropbox since before cloud subscriptions. If I don't subscribe to any plans, will I lose the files that are already in the cloud?
Hi @ssbookworm, let's jump right into this!
As a first step, can you visit your account's plan page, and let me know what it reports? Is it possible that you have any promotions, or referrals that could be adding up on top of the 2GB space offered with a Basic Dropbox account?
Also, you won't lose any of your files. Dropbox will not delete any of your files. Even if your Dropbox folder becomes over quota or your account is over quota due to a shared folder, all that should happen is that syncing stops.
Keep me posted!

No, you won't lose any files. If you somehow end up with more data than your account can hold (i.e. from a shared folder, etc.), syncing will stop until you're below quota, but no files will be deleted.
