Will the update to the "new" dropbox for MacOS be required?

I think the new Dropbox architecture is a terrible idea for users whose Dropbox offline folders are larger than their internal system drive.

If I ignore the update that puts all offline files in a folder in ~/library, will I be able to continue using Dropbox as normal?

Or, at some point, will I be forced to update?

Welcome to the forum, @iskylark!

I’m afraid that at some point, it’ll be necessary to install the latest Dropbox update for Mac devices.

Do you currently have the local Dropbox folder on an external hard drive perhaps?

Let me know, and we can perhaps look into this further.
