shared folders taking up space on my account?

shared folders taking up space on my account?

Someone had shared a folder with me that has a lot of large files. From reading the help files, it sounds like I have to have enough space in my dropbox, so I'm assuming that the shared folder takes up space in my account. Can someone confirm if it does take up space in my account?  I'm unable to delete anything from the folder. Is there a way for me to leave this shared folder?  I can't get a hold of the person who originally shared the folder to remove me.

Hi

Yes that is correct. Shared folders use your quota.

If you want to leave said share you can do so by following https://help.dropbox.com/share/leave-shared-folder

How can I leave that folder so that it isn't affecting my quota? I can't get a hold of the person who shared it to remove me and there isn't an option for me to delete the folder or leave it.

You follow the help article link I provided above which tells you how to do that.
