Dropboxer

Hey there @PatWW - could you elaborate on what you're trying to accomplish please?

If you're using our mobile app and want to upload your files to Dropbox, you can do it by following these steps on iOS.  From the Dropbox application on iPhone:

  • Tap the plus (“+”) button
  • Select “Create or Upload File”
  • Tap the "Upload File" option to select files to upload.

Once they're uploaded successfully you should be able to remove your files from your device if needed indeed.

Let me know if I'm missing something here please.

Re: How to sync iphone to photo library loaded to Dropbox app and remove files from iphone space?

Super User

Hello

Thanks for reaching out with your question.  If I understood what you are asking, you can use the Camera Uploads feature and after it uploads to Dropbox, you can delete the photos on your iPhone.  More info here: https://www.dropbox.com/help/photos-videos/camera-uploads-overview

Please read it carefully and if I were you if you decide to implement this, that you make sure the photos are actually fully uploaded to Dropbox before deleting them.  The odd part of this idea is that Dropbox app will upload to only one particular folder 'Camera Upload'.  According to the Help Center Article, it states: "Basic, Plus, and Professional users can view all photos in Dropbox by selecting the Photos tab (the photo icon) at the bottom of any page in the Dropbox mobile app."

Keep in mind that you will still have to abide by your accounts storage quota.  If you have a free account, you can only have no more than 2GB of storage, the same applies to anything stored in your Dropbox account.

When you go to camera upload folder, there will be thumbnails to show pictures but the actual photo is not on your iPhone unless you select it to be accessible offline.

I hope this helps
