Passed storage limit, do files still work?

Hi

I uploaded a file that was over 2 GB in size (I did not realise that the max size for a basic account was only 2 GB, only reading that the maximum uploading size is 50 GB from https://www.dropbox.com/help/space/upload-limitations .)

While the process was eventually successful, (I had to upload the file multiple times, as either an error or an interruption would occur) I was warned that I had exceeded my limit. Will I still be able to access the file in the future? Or should I look into upgrading my account?

If it shows at www.dropbox.com/home then the file has uploaded and you are fine, but, you wont be able to edit it/change it etc. at all. 

If it hasnt then yes, you'll need to get more space
