Files in my account aren’t syncing to other devices

  1. Is Dropbox running?
  2. Are you online?
    • Are you signed in to the same Dropbox account on all of your devices? Learn more.
  3. Is there a problem with your file names?
  4. Does your device have enough available space? Does Dropbox?
  5. Did you enable selective sync?

If you’ve checked each of the items above and you’re still having sync problems, try the following:

  1. Quit the Dropbox desktop app and relaunch it.
  2. Unlink and relink your computer.

Files in a shared folder aren’t syncing

  1. Check that you have access to the shared folder.
    1. Sign in to dropbox.com and visit the sharing page.
    2. If the folder appears under Folders in your Dropbox, move on to step 2.
    3. If the folder doesn't appears under Folders in your Dropbox, find the folder, and then click Add.
  2. Check that the person you are sharing the folder with is a member of the folder.
    1. Sign in to dropbox.com and visit the sharing page.
    2. Click the folder.
    3. Check the banner showing the members of the folder.
  3. Check that each person has access to the folder.
    1. Sign in to dropbox.com and visit the sharing page.
    2. If the folder appears under Folders in your Dropbox, move on to step 2.
    3. If the folder doesn't appears under Folders in your Dropbox, find the folder, and then click Add.
  4. If you’ve tried all of the above and you’re still having trouble, contact Dropbox support.

Files aren’t uploading

If you get an error message when uploading files to dropbox.com, try the following:

Sync is taking too long

  1. Click the Dropbox icon from the system tray or menu bar..
  2. Click the gear icon.
  3. Select Preferences...
  4. Click Network.
  5. Click Change Settings...
  6. Manually adjust bandwidth settings:
    1. Select the radio button beside Limit to, and enter the rates you prefer.
    2. Rates are set in kilobytes per second.
    3. For the fastest rate possible, select the radio button beside Don't limit.
Notes:
  • The first time you sync a file takes the most bandwidth; succeeding syncs will not take as long.
  • Transfer speeds depend upon how quickly your computer can process and compress the components of the files.
  • You can also check your connection speed through your internet service provider (ISP) and local network.
    • Keep in mind that the actual sync speed you see may not match these speeds directly as we are including the hash, compression, and encryption process in our aggregate kB/s speed.
