files have been syncing for days, but nothing happens

Hi,

I'm using Dropbox 64.4.141 on Mac OS 10.14.2.

In the menu, I see that the synchronization for 453 files is ongoing (with the arrow spinning around), and that the last file uploaded was transfered 24 days ago.

Quiting and restarting dropbox app didn't help.

What could I do to solve this ?

Hey there (@Julien78), if I were in your shoes (& I couldn’t see any progress made on content I’ve set to sync to my account online), I’d also unlink once & relink as an initial troubleshooting step & see if this amends the behavior. From there, can you have a look at your syncing icons after relinking Arrows Counter Clock/White check mark? Do they appear as expected?

Hi and thanks for your answer.

I unlinked and relinked, but it didn't solve the issue. Now I see basically all my files with Arrows Counter Clock and in the menu bar I see that now 244,982 files are being synchronized.

Interestingly, when I relinked, it seems that three files were transfered to my dropbox, but nothing happened since then.

Thanks a lot for circling back to me so fast @Julien78! While we’re at it, I’d like to see if something’s blocking our application from running as it should. I’d appreciate it if you could try the following for me:

  • Stop Dropbox (if needed) by clicking the Dropbox icon in the menu bar on the top of your screen. >Click on the gear icon in the Notifications panel and select "Quit Dropbox". 
  • Delete the Dropbox application from the Applications folder. You may need to provide your computer password in order to perform this action. 
  • Reinstall the Dropbox desktop application following these steps:
  • Open the Dropbox .dmg file and double click the Dropbox icon. Dropbox should appear in your menu bar.

Hi and thanks for your help !

I deleted the application and resinstalled it, but without unlinking/linking again, and no change. I still have the same 244,982 files being synchronized and Arrows Counter Clock for all the files.

Hey

So I have a similar problem......syncing for days and not getting done. I have unlinked....I have re-installed..... a brand new full OS installation with all updates...

I am using an iMac 27 inch, latest versions of everything. The icon looks normal, the files in Finder indicate there are set to sync..... yet nothing happens.
