Somehow I became part of a team. Now I am no longer able to manage folders and files.

New member | Level 2

I had a personal DropBox that was used for small shared projects, after which I permanently deleted files. Last year when writing a book with collaborators I somehow became part of  the team. Now I am no longer able to manage folders and files that I created outside of that team. In particular, I want to permanently delete files that I prefer not be accessible.

Hi @delbigi. Thanks for posting!

I understand you might be getting an error when trying to permanently delete the files you don't want to have in the team account. This is most likely because Business Admins have the ability to restrict users from permanently deleting content

Having a privacy concerns due to the team concept, is understandable. No worries, I can help you get your files out of there.

2 ways to do this.

  1.  You can ask to be reverted back to an individual Dropbox account. Your admin can do this for you and offboard you from the team with your files, following the steps here
  2. You can create a new Dropbox account. Share your files/folders and transfer ownership to the new account. Final step here is to remove the access of the Business account, so the files will only show in your new personal account.

Let me know which solution would be better for you and feel free to add any questions or further concerns. smiling face with halo

Thank you!
