Backup and export to Ext. drive

I have a new SSD ext drive I'm trying to export by backup to, what is the most efficient and quickest way to do this? I have over 100,000 files but everytime I try to go folder by folder it seems to take forever.

When you say backup, do you refer to your account's entire content, or your external backup, which is one of our features? 

Also, what steps do you follow on your end at the moment, in order to achieve that? Do you copy folder-by-folder, or use our external backup feature?
