Dropbox badge doesn't give us information that someone else is working on shared file

Dropbox badge doesn't give us information that someone else is working on shared file

Hi,

Since a few days, Dropbox Badges isn't informing me that someone else is viewing/editing the file I'm working on.

Same thing for my colleagues, they get not warning if someone is working on a file they already opened.

The badge is showing up and all conditions are fullfilled.

Is this possible our firewall is blocking these messages?

Additionnaly, we have an error message when trying to share a file with the Windows desktop application. It seems not possible to retreive the list of contacts to send the link ("please check your internet connection").

Apart from that, the files are correcly synced.

Thanks for your help.

Jérôme

There isn’t any port or protocol special to the Badge, however it wouldn’t hurt to have those ports open for the Dropbox desktop application to work to its full capacity.

Hi there, are all users trying to edit the files on an Office app installed on their machine, and not edit it via the Office Online website?

Since you’re getting a message about your internet connection, I’d recommend adding the following official domains to your whitelist to see if this helps.

Additionally there are some firewall rules, while not related to the Badge, which might also help out.

Let me know how it goes!

Yes, all users are working with local installation of Office.

I will ask the IT to check the firewall rules and will let you know the result.

Any idea of the port/domain/protocol used by the Badge?

Hi, As expected, the firewall was blocking some of the functionnalities of the Badges.

My IT colleagues fixed the firewall configuration and the problem disappeared.

Sorry, I don't have more detail about the corrections...

Thanks
