Error Occurred When Opening Files Saved To My PC's Dropbox Folder

Error Occurred When Opening Files Saved To My PC's Dropbox Folder

I have my desktop and Documents from my PC backed/sync'd in Dropbox.  All of the files are accessible and able to be opened via the Dropbox website and on my phone.  If I try to open the files contained in my Dropbox folder on my PC, I get the "An error occurred" message and they do not open.  I did not have this problem until recently.  It was operating fine previously.  All of the files in my PC have the green check mark.

I did have to replace my PC, so when I got the new PC, I downloaded Dropbox and did a selective sync to my Desktop and Documents folders, and while all of the files are on the PC, in the correct Dropbox folder, nothing will open

Hey @rmenconi, sorry to hear about this.

Would you mind sending over a couple of screenshots of the issue, so we can have a visual?

For example, a screenshot of the error message, how your files look in the Dropbox folder etc.

Also, please hover over the Dropbox icon in your system tray and send us a screenshot of what you see there too.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the screenshots, @rmenconi!

Your files appear to have a gray x icon on them, which is probably the cause of the syncing issue here.

Are your files currently set to online-only? If you right click them, can you switch them to available offline, to see if that helps?
