Mobile to laptop photos/videos

Mobile to laptop photos/videos

Hi, I was initially enjoying this new Dropbox experience but have now hit on the frustration on trying to upload my photos/videos (initially taken on mobile) and I now just get an error message saying 'can't upload' every time I try. It seems that I do have ample storage space for this, so I'm not really sure what is going on. Any thoughts about this for someone who is not hugely technically minded? Thanks.

Hey @dc119, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Could you please send us a screenshot of the exact error you're getting so that we can have a look too?

Are you manually uploading those photos or are you using the automatic camera uploads feature through the desktop app perhaps?

Keep us posted!

Hi, thanks for the response.

The same message appears in red each time I try to upload anything 'can't upload try again later' which I have tried and get the message again next time.

Ultimately I'm trying to save the many photos/videos that were taken on my mobile phone over the years, manually uploading each section of photos and (until I got the error messages) saving them to Dropbox.

Thanks, Derek

Hi @dc119, just for clarification, are you uploading directly from your mobile device, or via the computer to Dropbox?

Hi, I'm uploading from my mobile, trying to get the photos eventually onto laptop so that I can replace mobile without losing them.

Thanks

Are you connected to a stable WiFi network, or uploading via cellular data?

Do you have enough free space on your mobile device, as the Dropbox app might use the cache to upload files from the mobile app?

Hi, thanks, that was a very useful tip - I've cleared space on my mobile now and the images are sending again. It's a slow process, but getting there gradually, so thanks for advice and taking time to help out.
