Shared Folders
804 TopicsDon't Require Quota to Access Shared Folders
It makes absolutely no sense that I have to increase my quota in order to access a folder that someone is sharing with me. That quota is already being paid for by the other person. Did you let your CFO design the user experience, because this is absolutely NOT customer obsessed. As a customer, I should be able to access folders and storage shared from another customer's account regardless of the amount of quota I have. Even if I have a free account, I should be able to access the content. Requiring customers to have paid quota to a access a folder shared with them is certainly going to backfire from a net promoter score point of view. I, for one, will never be recommending that anyone use DropBox to share files until this functionality is fixed.133Views0likes4CommentsMy files appear to be empty after editing
Hello, I'm on an ASUS Zenbook running Windows 11. I have a shared dropbox folder that constantly has files getting wiped/copied (when they get copied they are empty) showing up on the dropbox. It always shows me editing the file and its usually multiple at the exact same time. All the files have nothing in them and instead are blank. I know you can restore the file but its been happening for months and across multiple different shared folders and its honestly a headache to fix. Help appreciated, thanks in advance.152Views0likes9CommentsThe recipients of my shared folders are moving files out of them. How can I stop that?
Device Multiple Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Multiple Dropbox App Version (if using the app) Multiple Question or Issue I provide image files to my clients by inviting them to DropBox folders I create for their specific company within my single user account. Often there are several contacts at one firm that all need access to the files. I set all permissions to View. Often clients do not realize that when they are clicking and dragging folders and image files they are in fact moving them out of the DropBox folder. How can I prevent this automatic click and drag move of files? Or, how can I tell when this happens so I can be more proactive in restoring these files and educating clients again about being aware of this issue? This is an incredibly tedious and frustrating quirk of DropBox. Thanks for any insights. Darren24Views0likes1CommentView shared photos as a gallery
When I share a Dropbox link to a folder with photographs, the web link is not optimized for photo viewing on any platform (phone or desktop). The thumbnails are too small and compressed. And on a phone's web browser, users can swipe through individual photos, but it requires two separate taps, thereby quickly becoming cumbersome. I am suggesting the idea to have Dropbox photo folders appear as a dynamic, tiled gallery, much like on a dedicated iOS or Android app. Google Drive's photo gallery is a great example of how to implement such a feature on Dropbox.129Views2likes4CommentsHow to leave a shared folder
I'm relatively new to DropBox, and I'm using DropBox Basic, with no interest in upgrading to Pro at this time. A client has shared a folder with me that includes many subfolders, and I have just reached my space limit. I'd like to leave some of those subfolders to open up some space. Is this possible, and how do I do it? Is the only solution to leave that top-level folder? If so, will that interfere with the client's ability to share with me more subfolders of that top-level share in future? I need to be able to let the client share new subfolders, while I drop older subfolders to maintain a reasonable amount of space. Thanks!Solved187KViews1like12CommentsA shared folder I just created doesn't show up on my desktop. How can I solve this?
Hello I logged in to the dropbox website this morning to create a shared folder. I dragged in some files and shared it with my client. But I cannot figure out how to now get that folder to appear on my desktop? Would rather do my uploading and downloading on my deskteop instead of needing to login to the website anytime I want to access its files. Thank you. I need to download all files from a folder someone shared with me, but instructions I've found online mention hovering over files and clicking a checkmark, which is not appearing. I've also seen reference to downloading all as a ZIP file, but this option doesn't appear either. The only option seems to be clicking each file to open it and download it from there, but there are too many files to download each separately. Is there any other way to achieve this download?Solved25KViews0likes7Comments
