Thanks for the info, I guess Dropbox categorises it as a limitation of 3rd party software then and puts Finder in that bracket. I did think since it's happening in the Finder/macOS it wouldn't be an issue though. Ideally there is a workaround for this as I don't want ~12-24 big files downloading everytime I go to save-as a file in other applications. Obviously it's not a deal-breaker, as smart-sync seems to be working great aside from that so far!

I use one of my Smart Sync 'Online Only' dropbox folders as a drop folder for client artwork, which I always change to Online Only to conserve space since I never need access to the files again. Annoyingly, I've noticed when I open a save as window (for example, exporting an image in Photoshop CC) to save somthing into this folder in question, if the folder view is set to icon view (i.e. so you get thumbnail previews), the 'online only' files in the view all start downloading to local storage. The files one-by-one start changing from grey cloud smart sync icons to green ticks as they download, and I start to get dropbox application notifications that the files in question are now downloaded. It's just the files in view, if I scroll down within the window, the files start to download as they appear in the window. If I'm just browsing the folder in finder in icon view on the macOS, this correctly does not happen, but when in a 'save as' dialog window seems to cause dropbox to start sync'ing them locally. Running macOS Mojave v10.14.5. Not application specific, happening in Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC. Dropbox application running, v75.3.115 Have tried application restarts, mac restarts, and PRAM reset.
