well my banned links have finally been removed! whew. - after mutiple attempts, I finally was able to get a real reply back from a human at suport, and turned out to be malware that was inside a .zip file I had uploaded. - and their automated search system had flagged it. But I feel it should be mentioned :
dropbox's automated system of banning links is poorly implemented, as is their "support" when issues arise.
Rich, as a super user. perhaps you can relay this message to someone you know at the company
-If dropbox has issues with a file that's being shared (or bandwidth issues) and decides to ban links, set up an automation to NOTIFY the user that files will be banned AND give them the exact reason so the user can then remedy the situation on their own. rather than just banning the links and letting the user have to figure what the hell happened, having find help and contact/waste human resources at customer service.
I don't folllow the "due to privacy, the message will always say bandwidth related". . - why mislead people to think it's bandwidth at first, when in my case, it wasn't!?!@# (and probably the case for others here) - I was finally told by support, in a message, it was malware, so just let me know to begin with! save everyone the hassle.
Furthermore Rich, I appreciate the reply and help. BUT .. your copy/paste reply is rather flawed.
- 1-3 business days to respond? I don't think so, more 3 business WEEKS until I heard back from someone.
- and the link to "Open your ticket here:" , that's NOT a link to open a ticket,. that's a starting point link to send users into an endles loop of further "Help" links.. have you even tried that link yourself? it just leads to : https://www.dropbox.com/support/s/0/1125980 then https://www.dropbox.com/support/s/3/1125980/c/3
THEN https://www.dropbox.com/help/45 (oh look,. it's back into the HELP section!)
- which stll doesn't take you anywhere to "open a ticket"
The true link to actually open a ticket would be someting like this: (which I arrived at by filing a "bug report"!@# https://www.dropbox.com/support/s/94/1125980/c/94
and you know whey I opened up multiple tickets?... because even when I did manage to open a ticket
.a few day later I got an AUTOMATED reply sending me BACK to help!@# - essentially dismising my ticket
https://www.dropbox.com/help/9223 hopefully this message finds it's way to somoene who can make such changes at dropbox so others can avoid the frustration.
