Hello, I read some other advice about this, and this is how far I got before I got stuck. Opened the Drobox app on my Taskbar. Clicked on my Avatar and then picked Preferences. Went down to Sync. Clicked on Dropbox Folder Location, changed it to my D Drive. Started moving, then stopped and said I had to disable PC Backup. Opened up the app on the Taskbar again and paused syncing indefinitely. Went through all the steps again, but got the same message. Any suggestions? Renate44Views0likes1CommentHow do I find the Dropbox Preferences on Windows?
I'm trying to change the syncing settings, but I can't seem to find the Preferences or open the Desktop App. I've downloaded Dropox (and I tried to do it again but the website said it was already installed) but any time I open the app it only opens the File Explorer. I've gathered there are a lot of settings I can manage in the Preferences sections but how on earth do I access it? I'm using a PC with Windows 11.Solved52Views0likes5CommentsCan I set all pdf files to be available offline at once?
I have a user that has a small hard drive, to save space has most dropbox files online only, but have issues where he tries to open a pdf with adobe acrobat and gets an error, when he marks the pdf as make available offline he is able to open fine. So the question is: is there a way to make it so all pdf's are marked as make available offline all at once( have as a default) so that the user does not have to do this for each pdf file Individually. Thanks Regards, EricSolved31Views0likes3CommentsHow can I bypass the mandatory folder naming for the Dropbox folder?
Previously, it was possible to save your Dropbox folder with any name and location you preferred on your computer. However, it now enforces a specific username for the folder, which complicates collaborative work when syncing with programs like Revit. This change has been causing issues for our workflows. Does anyone know how to remove or bypass this mandatory folder naming in Dropbox?34Views0likes4CommentsSet up Dropbox to sync to external storage
Hi, I've searched for answers but I couldn't find anything that's less than 5 years old, and I'd like to figure out the answer before I make a mistake that I can't fix. Currently, I selectively sync some of the photos because there are lots of them. I'm out of space on the computer, and I want to move my Dropbox files to an external drive so that I no longer have to sync selectively. I want a local copy of all of my Dropbox files. According to what Dropbox said years ago (would't let me post the link so pasting the text), if you unplug a drive while Dropbox is running, Dropbox might start deleting your files. Is this information accurate? Thank you __________________________________ Dropbox can indeed be used with an external hard drive as long as you can ensure the drive is always connected to your computer while Dropbox is running. If the drive is ever disconnected from the computer while Dropbox is running there is a small chance that the Dropbox software will start deleting files before realizing that the entire drive has been removed. Additionally, you should ensure that the file system of the external drive meets the file system requirementsas found in the following Help Center article: https://help.dropbox.com/installs/system-requirements (As you mentioned a new PC, I guess you're (going to be) using a Windows device so you'll need to make sure that theDropbox folderwill be on an NTFS-formatted hard drive) To move your Dropbox folder to an external drive use the steps in the following Help Center article:https://help.dropbox.com/installs/move-dropbox-folder [The location you select is the folder the Dropbox folder will be moved to, rather than the folder your Dropbox files will be stored in.]17Views0likes1CommentTeam activity no longer shows up on desktop app on Windows 10 and 11
I used to see all the team activity in my desktop app but now it wont show up. I have tried Windows 10 and 11 computer and it appears to be same. The team activity does show up in my mobile app, so it should not be the account issue but more related to the desktop app settings. PS: sometimes I can see the team activity for a few seconds, then they will disappear.57Views0likes5CommentsTurn OFF selective sync, do FULL sync instead?
I see that, under selective sync in settings, I can check all folders - but, if I add a folder, will it start syncing? If not, is there a way to turn OFF selective sync and instead opt for FULL synching? (I just noticed that I thought I had no files in a folder but I actually DID, because I was not synching all the subfolders, so I think I need to synch everything while I'm cleaning up files.)Solved990Views0likes10CommentsWrong account maybe? Can't find files with new laptop
Hi - my mac has just expired and i can no longer accress it - so I installed the latest version of Dropbox onto a new laptop in the hope of downloading all my documents/files onto its hard drive - however there's nothing there.. Ive signed into my account alright but I'm wondering if having changed my email login a few years ago all my files are on a different account. I had no problem accessing my files on the old computer and as far as I can remember the login details are the same.. Obviously I can't check the settings on my old mac anymore - I'm at a loss of what to do next to gain access.. Cheers.. My account may be under my old email address, and I just tried to access the acount with that address and Dropbox said it has sent a code to that address - however - that email address is no longer in existence, so I can't ever get a hold of the code!!!!
