Dark Mode for Dropbox on Desktop
Hello Everybody! I have created this thread to provide updates on Dark Mode for Dropbox on Desktop. We are closing off the longer thread for general Dark Mode requests so that we can provide our community with updates for specific products, and so that requests don't get lost. At the time of posting, our team is looking into Dark Mode for Desktop, but cannot provide a time frame for implementation. You can vote for this idea and comment here to show your support. Add an option to prevent a thumbnail popup when taking a screenshot
When you use Dropbox desktop app on Windows and enable the option; "Save screenshots to Dropbox" a thumbnail of a screenshot appears at the corner of the screen when a screenshot is taken. This popup needs to be manually closed if you want to take another screenshot. There should be an option in the Preferences to prevent the popup.
Two Dropbox folders on two different disks for one account
My dedicated 2 Tb disk with the Dropbox folder is running full. I have other disks in the PC of the same size, so I would like to have two dropbox folders, one on each disk, connected to the same dropbox account, instead of having to buy a bigger disk for my PC. A few years have passed since this request and as a business this would save us allot of time and irritation. As a company we share daily hundreds of links to files via Microsoft Teams with each other. Now the situation is as follow: 1 link is shared 2 team member clicks on the link 3 browser opens the link to the file 4 user clicks on 'open in dropbox' button Ideal situation would be that admins and users have a File open preference, where links to files can directly open in the native apps: 1 link is shared 2 team member clicks on it and the file is synced and opened in the native app Microsoft Teams has a great solution to this problem for Office-applications, called File open preference, see screenshot. Small and large companies use MDM's, like Microsoft Intune, to manage their devices. As Dropbox has a focus on companies, it's one of the only apps that 1: doesn't offer an app to install via MDM for Mac and Windows, 2: doesn't support script for auto account login via MDM. Dropbox does support EMM, but that doesn't to the trick for most companies. Get an option to prioritize syncing for folders on the desktop app.
Dropbox currently has an option to prioritize which files to sync first. I'd like to extend that to provide the same functionality for selected folders. This will be particularly helpful in migrating to new equipment but also when changing a large amount of content. Can do?
Automatic logout from the Dropbox desktop app at a specific time (e.g., midnight)
I would love to see a feature in Dropbox that allows admins or users to schedule an automatic logout from the desktop application at a specific time—for example, every night at midnight. In many workplaces, multiple employees share the same computer, and they don’t always remember to sign out of Dropbox at the end of the day. This leaves their files and data accessible to whoever uses the computer next. An automatic daily logout would improve security and privacy, ensuring that every user starts fresh the next day and logs in to their own account. If possible, this feature could be customizable, allowing admins to set different logout times or trigger events based on company policies (like end of shift). Hello, Can you please add an option to pause Dropbox for 5 minutes? 15 is sometimes too much, and wouldn't hurt to add another option. Also, I would classify the option in an inverted order than the actual, so the option "indefinitely" would stay as far as the box icon as possible, and the new 5 minutes option would be the one closer, and after 15 minutes and so on.
