Keep photos added to the Family Room out of the Photo tab.
I just upgraded to a family account with the idea that I could categorize our photos in different folders âChristmas Photosâ, âFamily Photosâ, each kid with photos from over the years, etc. the expectation was that the family go could into any folder and find photos they want to download or share with extended family/friends. They could do that, but the probably was ALL the photos go into everyoneâs Photo Tab. What felt like my kidsâ private photo backup area was now cluttered with thousands of photos, so Iâm having to keep the categorized photos in my own drive and just share with my wife. All that to say it would be awesome to have the option to exclude photos added to the Family Room from the Photo Tab.
My folders taking too long to open when left-double clicking in Windows.
Hi everyone, I have been having difficulty opening my dropbox folders on my windows when I double left-click on folders. It usually takes about 10 to 15 seconds to open each folder. However, the weird thing is when I right-click on the same folders and select open in a tab or when I left click on the folders in quick access, they open quickly. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and I have deleted dropbox cache but neither of them worked. I have been using dropbox for more than 10 years and this is the first time such a weird thing is happening to me. Could someone help me identify the problem please?Images moved from Macbook to Dropbox folders not showing thumbnails and not opening
I have a dropbox family account of which I am the owner. All the images I have moved from my macbook pro to dropbox folders show the thumbnails and open on double clicking when I first add them. However, when I go back to the folders a short time later, the thumbnail image no longer shows and I have to right click to choose preview to open them (even though it is set as default to open). The images have a cloud images next to them and show zero bytes. If I edit them from dropbox the thumbnail appears again and opens ok. It is a pain having to open every image to see what the thumbnail is and is making my workflow much longer. I have gone into 'get info' and set preview to open all files of this type but it doesnt seem to make any difference. Dropbox is still at the top of the 'ope with' list when I right click the image to open it. Help please. I am in my sixties and not particularly technology savvy although manage just fine unless its technical.
Missing updated data files
I am the only user of my dropbox account. I have lots of excel spreadsheets and the one spreadsheet I have been working on for months. Going into it daily and adding my data and research. I have not been in the file for since the beginning of the year and went into it again a few days ago. All my research is gone. I have had two people look at my Dropbox and cannot find my old files. Any solutions to recover everything as my boss has requested it and will no doubt get fired.
Dropbox Paper Error 404
I often use .paper files for taking notes and tracking the progress of tasks with checkboxes on my work team. I'm using Windows 11 with the latest version of the Dropbox app (175.4.5569 at the time of writing). Every time I open a .paper file from my file explorer, it opens a tab in my browser that reads "Error (404) We can't find the page you're looking for." The URL also switches to https://www.dropbox.com/desktop_login. If I check the Dropbox icon in my task bar, I'm still logged in to the app. I can open the same exact .paper files from the Dropbox folder structure in my browser with no problems. This has been my temporary workaround, but the problem is still annoying and inconvenient. My boss, who uses a macOS, doesn't have this problem. I've tried logging out and logging back in and uninstalling and reinstalling the program with no success. Hyperlinks with the URL to the .paper file don't work either. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks
How to open Strongbox database stored in family room of Dropbox
I currently use Strongbox to store passwords on three of my devices and I share the file with my wife who uses it on her three devices. I email the file to her and then download the file into Strongbox on her devices. So essentially we each have a local copy of the file. I am trying to put the file into the cloud for security reasons and so that we are working from the same database and wonât have to email a new copy of the database every time there is a change. I âchattedâ at length online yesterday with a Dropbox rep who told me this could be done with Dropbox Family. So I purchased the Dropbox plan and created a test Strongbox database and in the Strongbox app I then chose to store the database in Dropbox. I sign into Dropbox on any of my and my wifeâs devices and can see the test file in the Dropbox family folder. But I cannot open the file. It says the .kdbox files canât be previewed. I canât seem to find a way to open the file in Strongbox. I can copy the file, but then changes arenât saved to the original file stored in Dropbox, which defeats the purpose.
