Device HP Z2 Tower G4 Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 10 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 241.4.4795 I have an ongoing issue with folders in our Dropbox Plus account. We use dropbox for our small company and we have a top level dropbox folder for each of our projects. All folders are owned by my boss (not me). Once in a while I will accidentally drag a top level folder into another folder. Dropbox for some reason allows this drag. But when I go to undo it, then Dropbox tells me that I don't own the folder and I can't move it back! The folder is then stuck in another folder! The only solution I have found to fix this so far is to move the folder back on the website. However this breaks the sharing for the folder so that my boss and any collaborators no longer have access to the folder! I then have to re-share the folder every time I accidentally drag them! This seems very silly, if I don't own the folder and can't move it back, why does Dropbox let me move it in the first place! Is there some better way to fix this?24Views0likes1CommentQuestions about the "view-only" shared links
I read <https://learn.dropbox.com/self-guided-learning/dropbox-fundamentals-course/fundamentals-how-do-i-share-with-others#sharing-links,-your-way> Iâve set up a series of nested folders and a View-Only link. Q1: Is there any way that I can prevent one of my link-sent-to-visitors-view-only link from doing a Copy to Dropbox? To be clear, I want them to view it. I want them to download and enjoy whatâs there. I know they will share some things. I just donât want mass copy-everything-thatâs-here, which is possible from the main folder I'm sharing. [I think they answer is that I can't stop it.] Q2: If a person I send my link to has their own Dropbox account and does a Copy to (their) Dropbox, can I know they did this? And please assure me that as it's copy not share, II will not be stuck having their folders/files and that I wonât see their stuff unless they specifically share their folders with me. Dropbox Plus Sharing via View-only link Not using a Dropbox folder on my Mac71Views0likes4CommentsI no longer see the "anyone with link to view" option for shared links on my Dropbox team.
Help! I feel like I am going crazy trying to figure this out. I have a business account and recently have had trouble creating links so that anyone with the link can view. This is a new issue and one I haven't had before. It used to be so easy to create folders and links to share easily with colleagues but not no matter where I look, I am not seeing that option anyomore. It only gives me the option to invite individual people to view/edit the folders I am creating. Is there something I missing or a restriction I mistakenly added to my account? I'd rather "anyone with the link to view" be my default than it be protected as 90% of the time I want to create links that are easily shareable and viewable. See attached screenshot. Is anyone else having this issue as of late? Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide!71Views0likes3CommentsAllow us to see all the folders a user has access to and easily remove them from member.
Currently you can see who are the shared people in a folder or file. We need to be able to select a person and see the folders and files they have access to, and then obviously un-share from there. Not being able to manage this easily is a significant security risk.285Views5likes3CommentsThe Dropbox desktop app on Mac keeps giving an error that 32 files are unable to sync
Dropbox Plan Plus Are you a Team Member or Admin? Admin Do you have access to the email linked to the account? Yes Are there any devices connected to your Dropbox account? Laptop Only Question or Issue Hi 32 files in my Dropbox folder refuse to sync. When I click See Issues it pops up a Sync Issues window that keeps flashing, reloading the list of sync issues every second or so. I was able to click the open permissions button next to the files before the screen refreshed to grant permissions but nothing ever happens. I have attached screenshots. I have already granted full disk access and accessibility permission to dropbox. I also deleted the dropbox and dropboxelectron folders from ~/Library/Application Support followed by an uninstall and reinstall. Any ideas what's going on? Also I have Malwarebytes Premium on this computer. Thanks.45Views0likes3CommentsRestrict changes to top level folders while allowing changes to lower level folders
We have numerous incidents where a team member accidentally changes a high-level folder (rename, move, delete, etc) causing a cascade of sync problems and stalling the projects for hours. If certain folders could be restricted to read-only while still allow the child-folders to be editable by members, that would be extremely helpful.95Views0likes2CommentsWhy does the Dropbox desktop app hijack my screenshots?
How to stop dropbox from taking my screenshots. The solutions privided do not work. There is no way to get the app to load on a mac. Opening the dropbox icon, which is supposed to open the app just opens the folder. The App never opens so the preferences section is never available to fix this screenshot hijacking issue. This is a known issue why is it not fixed?80Views0likes7CommentsThe recipients of my shared folders are moving files out of them. How can I stop that?
Device Multiple Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Multiple Dropbox App Version (if using the app) Multiple Question or Issue I provide image files to my clients by inviting them to DropBox folders I create for their specific company within my single user account. Often there are several contacts at one firm that all need access to the files. I set all permissions to View. Often clients do not realize that when they are clicking and dragging folders and image files they are in fact moving them out of the DropBox folder. How can I prevent this automatic click and drag move of files? Or, how can I tell when this happens so I can be more proactive in restoring these files and educating clients again about being aware of this issue? This is an incredibly tedious and frustrating quirk of DropBox. Thanks for any insights. Darren54Views0likes1CommentManually disable folder shareability for sensitive information
So the use case is based on the desire of having sensitive information on Dropbox and eliminating the possibilty of accidentally sharing it with someone. The idea is for an option to manually turn off shareability of a folder. That way I dont accidentally create a link in a flurry and send our finances to a customer. There are other cloud services I could use that do this just for that information but who needs more passwords to remember.62Views2likes1CommentHow to remove third party app permissions?
A third party iOS print app requested access to my Dropbox contents for the purpose of printing individual files to a printer without AirPrint support. It failed miserably. How, in Dropbox, may I manage which third party apps have access to my account contents so I may revoke it? Thank you.Solved2.8KViews0likes4Comments
