When I save file, the file will appear in my DropBox, but when I open it the file is completely blank or only kept an older version of the document. I realized some of these "saved" items are being saved as Zero bytes. I am not sure why this is happening.Solved31KViews0likes91CommentsCan't restore data from an old external device backup
When I look at DropBox with on the web, I can see that I have two external device backups named "Shared Data" and "Ventura ...". When I look at the backups using the app, I can only see one device backup With either of the backups, I can see no way of restoring them to a new machine. I do not have the original external device. With the "Ventura ..." backup I can see the files and download them as there are only a handful of them and then can be zipped. The "Shared Data" backup is 128GB with a considerable number of files and folders. It is therefore not feasible to navigate the complete structure, create the folder structure and then transfer the files in a folder and individual zips. Help is appreciated. Hi, I was trying to save a photo to my phone from a shared folder. However, when I pressed the 'Save to device' button and chose the album on my phone where I wanted the picture to be saved in, the picture vanished from the dropbox folder and it didn't load to my phone either. Can the picture be restored somehow and how can I avoid this in the future?112Views0likes1CommentPhotos randomly disappear from my iPhone mobile app.
I have been storing my pix in Dropbox for years with no problem, but lately I’ve found that a lot of the pix on my iPhone do not show up, though they are still in the files I created in Dropbox on my laptop. I just clicked on some files at random to test this. In some, I can see all the pix. Others show up as empty. and in a few cases, I could see the photos when I opened the files on my phone but then they immediately disappeared, leaving an empty folder that said it had zero kb of content. Pretty sure it is only photos, not other kinds of media, that are disappearing. What is causing that and how can the pix to start showing up again on my phone?Solved455Views0likes3CommentsFile not visible in Dropbox Home but links are still valid
I have a bit of a unique issue, there was a file on my Dropbox 6-7 years ago that I assumed I deleted (since it doesn't show up on home). However, old links generated to it still initiate a download, but the downloaded file is just an empty zero byte one. Does Dropbox still have a copy and the file stream is just being terminated, or is this just a bug? Is it at all possible to recover this file? I am certain that the link leads to a file I've uploaded since it returns a 404 for others, yet initiates a download when I visit it.421Views1like1CommentMissing desktop files after deleting dropbox
Hi a while ago (6 months ago) I downloaded DropBox app and checked syncing with my personal Desktop files (although I think I disabled that immediately). It synced, but because I was using free version, only 2GB from my 60GB desktop were stored, the rest was not. Some time ago i uninstalled Dropbox (but now I am confused if i really did) and everything was fine. I kept on living like that since then, no issues, but today when I found I still have some remaining of files with 'Dropbox' in their names, I deleted them and all my Desktop files are now gone + I cannot save anything on my Desktop as it is just gone also, when I check what is my Desktop is pointing to it says "Desktop -> /Users/chopchop/Dropbox/My Mac (iMac (Chop))/Desktop" So I assume I just deleted my Dropbox directory today, and by deleting it, I deleted my desktop files which were not stored in Dropbox unfortunatelly. Should I just reinstall dropbox? When I try, it says that original dropbox directory is missing or relocated. Should i just create new directory and move app there? do u have any idea how to resolve lack of Desktop + this referencing, or do u recommend any files-recovery software which could help?Solved7.9KViews0likes40Commentsdrop box has deleted all my download files in download folder on mac

I have an Excel file in my dropbox folder that I reference on a daily basis from my work Windows desktop, my home Mac desktop, and my iPhone. I have been updating this file daily for the last few weeks. Today, when I open the file, Excel opens and shows me a much older version. Roughly 90% of my added data is not showing when I open the file. Oddly, the "Preview" of the file on my desktop explorer window properly shows the current version. Also, If I right-click on the file to view the "Previous Versions", the "Current Version" shows a preview with the proper information. Why can't I get the "current version" file to actually open, all of the sudden? Thanks in advance!4.1KViews0likes19Comments
