43 TopicsOption to go back to a specific time, not just a date in Dropbox Rewind
I love the rewind feature, it has saved me multiple times but it's usability is horrible. I use dropbox as my working folder for development work, so in a matter of minutes there can be thousands of modified files. If I want to rewind to let's say one hour earlier, this is practically impossible. The only option right now is to scroll though the list of modified files in the rewind side panel, few files at a time, it takes so long to do this that the only option is to rewind to an earlier day. Why can't there simply be an option to select a time to rewind to? Its incredible how such simple features are not obvious to the drobox user interface developers42Views2likes3CommentsDisable folder deletion in team space for team members
We have issues with users accidentally deleting entire folders, unfortunately this seems to happen on our larger teams that have a lot of data in their folders. This means a lot of down time waiting for help recovering the folders/files. We regularly train our users not to delete folders but it happens anyway. Our users need to be able to edit files, but there is no reason for them to be able to delete entire folders. Having a function to prevent users from being able to delete at the Folder level would prevent a lot of down time as well as having to escalate recovery to DropBox.259Views0likes4CommentsUser restrictions on bulk deletion or moving
It would be great if it were possible to set a user so they cannot perform bulk deletions or moves of files. One of the users, who does not have admin rights, accidentally moved a folder with 350,000 files. As a result, we lost the functionality of the links when returning the folder back. It would therefore be great if some users could be restricted so that it is not possible to move or delete files beyond a certain quota.239Views2likes3CommentsOption to select and delete multiple shared links
There was a request for this feature back in 2018 but looks like nothing was done. I want the option in the "Shared", "File requests", and "Deleted files" menus to select multiple files at once, or "Select All" and delete them in one click. Right now, we have to manually go to each link/file individually and click the 3 dots to the right and delete the link. This is super inefficient and cumbersome and there needs to be an option to select all or choose multiple links/files at once and process them together. Perhaps including updating the settings across shared links as well as a checkbox/multiselection feature so if preferences change across multiple links, they can be edited and updated via a checkbox feature.1.1KViews1like3CommentsRequest for Multi-Delete Contracts Feature on Dropbox Sign
Dear Team, I trust this message finds you well. I currently have 15 pages of pending signature contracts that need to be deleted on Dropbox Sign. However, the process of deleting each one individually is quite time-consuming. Could you please consider implementing a feature that allows for the selection and deletion of multiple contracts simultaneously? Thank you.741Views0likes2CommentsAdd option to auto-delete original file after it's been converted via automation
I have automation set up on a folder to convert all .heic to .jpg. However after the conversion, there's no way to automatically delete the original .heic and just keep the new .jpg. Thus I'm wasting a lot of space on duplicate images, and have to manually go in and delete the heic's. Could Dropbox add an option to the automation workflow to delete a file after it's been converted?1.3KViews6likes4CommentsSecurity measure for changes in settings
Provide a security option that, when enabled, requires users (including admins) to always enter a 2FA code when attempting to change any security related settings. A 2FA code should also be required on any attempt to permanently delete files/folders from Dropbox Rewind. The idea is to prevent ransomware attacks from being able to compromise the user's ability to restore their files. In short, there is a need to prevent the type of situation that happened to this poor fellow: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Delete-edit-and-organize/Lost-Files-that-were-permanently-deleted-after-ransomware/td-p/694211542Views0likes2CommentsPrevention of Local Data Loss on Account Deletion for users with syncing issues
Our organization recently purged a user account that no longer had any data stored in Dropbox on the web. Unbeknownst to us, the user's Desktop client had not synchronized for over a year. The user seldom used Dropbox and ignored or missed error messages presented by the client (support indicated that the client had been in an error state throughout the available logging period). Unfortunately, the user had also opted to back up their Desktop, Documents, and Downloads folders during the Dropbox install, which re-homed these folders within the Dropbox folder. We took the default option to purge local data upon deletion of the account, and while the client couldn't successfully synchronize data, it was able to successfully purge the local Dropbox folder, including 1+ years' worth of unsynchronized data. Admins should have a way to identify clients in an error state, and they should be warned that data may be lost before purging an account with clients that are failing to synchronize.419Views0likes2CommentsOption to disable delete confirmation popup when deleting online-only files from desktop
When deleting "online-only" files or folders, I got asked for confirmation with a pop up, but there is no "do not show this next time" checkbox. I know what I'm doing when I delete files and I don't need Dropbox to babysit me. How can I make that popup go away forever?17KViews27likes39CommentsRule that prevents anybody - even the administrators - from deleting files permanently
We are a law firm and we experience that more and more often our clients (companies) are attacked by hackers who delete or encrypt their company data. Our clients lose their data despite double or triple servers being in place. We currently rely on the fact that it is possible to recover old versions of files using the version history tool. Thus in case of deletion or encryption we should be able to recover our data. However, my understanding is that the DB administrator (myself) can permanently delete the DB files and that after permanent deletion no version history is available. I believe that, despite the two-step verification process, a hacker might get my credentials, access as DB administrator and permanently delete all our files, including old versions of files. For us it is fundamental to have a subscription available that would disable permanent deletions not only by members, but by Admins as well. The files, in particular, should be deleted only after 60 days from subscription cancellation.669Views0likes8Comments
