Dropbox plan free Device iPad, iPhone, MacBook Pro Question or Issue The free plan gives me 2gb of storage. Dropbox says I am using almost 8gb, and that almost all of it is in backups. Iâm not aware of using any backup features. And I canât find the backup files. How can I delete all the backup files so I can use my account again?26Views0likes1CommentI can't move my Dropbox files to an external drive
2025 Macbook air m4 Dropbox v240.4.8493 I have 2tb in dropbox and I want it all on an external drive and Dropbox has no way to do this. I tried logging out and changing the storage location - that doesnt work. Every time I switch it and log in dropbox closes because of an error and when I reopen it hasn't switched; the folder remains in "Library." I read that this is mac making things hard for dropbox, so I gave up and tried to work with dropbox's normal functionality. But because I can't sync it all to my 512gb internal drive, I decided to sync individual folders at a time then copy to my external drive. I selected "store offline" in preferences under "choose how you store files." I then chose several folders to sync and left it overnight. It said everything was synced in the morning. I went to those folders in finder and they were still online-only. I right clicked on the folders and selected "make available offline". Dropbox reported that they were synced. The folders have green checks next to them, but NONE OF THE FILES INSIDE ARE SYNCED. Dropbox, this is insane. You need a tool to liberate data. I'm 100% going to lose files over this. I've used dropbox since 2008 and I can't understand how you've managed to make this a worse, unusable experience.119Views0likes4CommentsMy Dropbox shows full (2 GB used) but the account is completely empty.
My Dropbox is completely empty, I almost never use it. There are no files, no shared folders, trash empty. I have unlinked all devices and reinstalled the app. Please help reset ghost storage / back usage on my account.21Views0likes1CommentDropbox says I'm over limit, but I don't see how or why. Is my computer at risk?
So, I WAS using Dropbox Premium a while ago when I got my new computer, it uploaded files automatically and didn't really do anything else significant. It worked. Eventually, I stopped paying for it since I didn't need it. However, it is NOW saying that my account is FAR over the limit (like 7x I think? It says I have 356GB in there). HOWEVER, when I click the option to check my folder, or free up space, looking inside there is nothing save for a single mp4 file I needed to share for a college project. It is saying that it will clear/delete whatever is bringing it over the limit, but I'm worried with the current Window's scare involving your files getting perma deleted it will just erase my hard drive. What is going on, do I need to be worried?25Views0likes1CommentHow can I upload files to a paid account without upgrading myself?
My family member and I are trying to share a Dropbox folder for caregiving. The family member has a paid account, and I have a free account. Is there no way for me to upload files to our shared folders without upgrading my account to paid? Anytime I try to upload a file, I get an error message telling me that have surpassed my 2 GB storage limit with my free account.26Views0likes1CommentFiles aren't set online-only automatically when copying files from an external NAS to my Mac.
Device MacBook Pro Operating System/Browser (if using the web) OS26.2 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 240.4.8493 Syncing Status Syncing, but it shouldn't? Question or Issue Default syncing preference is set to online-only, because I want to save the files off of my MacBook, to save space. But everything I copy files from a external NAS to the Dropbox, it takes up space on my MacBook, hundreds of GB's... If this setting is offered, and turned to online-only (it literally says: You set this to online-only so new files will not take up space on your harddrive) then why is is still using all the space on my MacBook?69Views0likes5CommentsI need to add more space to my personal Dropbox account, without upgrading to a team.
I have the largest account available to an individual and have added the one time storage to my account. I have a large family and have a lot of photos and videos that I want to store. However, I'm almost out of space (nearly 4TB) and need more. When I tried to upgrade, my only option for more storage than 4TB is to upgrade to a business account for three users at an increase of an additional $225/year. My first TB of increase was $60 and it hardly seems right to force me to delete my files or upgrade for 80% increase in price. Thank you.50Views0likes2CommentsDeleted everything, still over quota.
I downgraded to Dropbox Basic since I haven't been using Dropbox at all lately. I've deleted everything from my Dropbox, but I'm still showing as exceeding my limit. I've looked everywhere in my account using the web portal just to make sure I can find any and everything, and there's nothing remaining in my account (I downloaded everything prior to deleting). I even looked in the Dropbox folder on my Mac, and it's showing 0 items. When I go into my account through the web, it shows 6.1 GB of "Backup" but when I go to the DropboxBackup, there are no backups there.Solved53Views0likes3Comments
