I have used Apple's Migration Assistant to move all my content from one Mac to a new Mac. I keep all of my Dropbox files on my computer, so all my Dropbox files are transferred to the new Mac. Now Dropbox is creating a new Dropbox folder and downloading all of my files. How should I best handle this?31Views0likes3CommentsWe need an official Dropbox data migration app for faster migration to new machines.
Hi There, Even with a 200Mbps up/down internet connection and a gigabit ethernet connection to a Mac on the same network, it still takes days to migrate Terabytes of data to a new Mac. I've read the instructions about not migrating data via disk copy/migration apps but it's unacceptably slow to login to Dropbox, and wait for a sync to transfer data. REQUEST: Create a Dropbox migration app that properly copies Dropbox data from one disk to another. That way, we could connect two Macs via thunderbolt, copy the data via the app and only wait for a sync/check, no copying of actual data. Hope that makes sense. If that doesn't work then please, there has to be a faster way. Cheers, Ben58Views0likes3CommentsSyncing icons are missing from Dropbox folder in macOS Sequoia
hey! I have a new iMac with sequoia installed. I have the dropbox desktop app but it won't allow me to see the syncing symbols or right click and download. I know there is a setting in the privacy/security tab and then to click something in extensions.. but sequoia does not have those settings. just wondering if anyone has a solution for this34Views0likes3CommentsI can't open my desktop app settings, so that I can move my Dropbox folder to an external drive.
This has been happening since my last computer... What I would like to do is sync my dropbox to save to my external drive; however, I cannot access the dropbox app to go to sync settings and trying to simply move it doesn't work. Settings for this are not avaiable online and im worried that if i uninstall the app I'll lose all my saved folders that I've pinned on my computer (which i guess I can just re add) I've tried looking at my antivirus software as well, but that didn't help as dropbox doesn't seem to be blocked. this would free up a ton of storage, so please help!29Views0likes2CommentsSyncing Error with Android App
Hello, for several days I'm experience a syncing error with the Android app. Anything updated from the Android device appears on other connected devices, but not the other way around. Updated files from my home and work computers appear at dropbox.com but not in the Android app. I have restarted my phone several times and removed and reinstalled the Android app. The only way to get files to sync now is to logout and log back in, but I really shouldn't have to do that every time I want to update my to do list from my phone. Please help!Solved2KViews0likes13CommentsFeature Request: ExFAT Compatibility when using external drives
I (as well as many others I'm sure) use Dropbox to sync with offsite professionals while needing to use multiple workstations. Rather than keeping local copies on each of these computers (as they aren't private workstations and often are cleared), I keep my Dropbox on an External drive. I've now been presented with a need to utilize this system over multiple OS, and have just found out that Dropbox cannot be linked to an ExFAT external drive. The 4GB file limit has been removed with FAT32, and many professionals have to utilize multiple OS environments to do their job. This is a problem with a solution that's far overdue. Please let me continue to use Dropbox to connect with other professionals regardless of the OS I am working on in that moment.33Views0likes4CommentsMac Finder extension incompatible with Google Drive Finder helper Finder extension
I have the same issue that many other people have reported. On my MacBook Pro running MacOS 14.1.2, I have both Dropbox v189.4..8395 Personal Plus (I have never had a beta version) and Google Drive File Stream v85.0.26.0. My Dropbox sync/cloud icons are missing from my Dropbox folder. If I uncheckthe Google Drive Finder helper's Finder extension, then the Dropbox sync icons immediately re-appear. However, this reduces the functionality of my Google Drive installation. I need *both* of these cloud sync systems to work. Is there a fix for this problem yet? -Marc Levoy, Stanford University and Adobe Inc.1.9KViews0likes7Comments4 files are perpetually syncing on Mac OS, and I can't identify which files
Using Dropbox (version 212.4.5767) on iMac (OS X Ventura). App works fine. But when I pull down the menu from the Dropbox icon in the menu bar, it *always* says "Syncing 4 files" I have no idea what these files are. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Dropbox app. And still the 4 files are syncing 24/7. When I "view sync issues" it gives no info. How can I determine what four files are involved here?53Views0likes12Comments
