Hi there I recently cancelled my paid plan as I've switched to another storage option that serves me just fine. Over the years I gained more Dropbox storage through referrals etc, so my total storage is showing 10.13GB since I cancelled my plan. Plenty for my needs as all that is on Dropbox is a shared folder managed by a colleague. However, I'm now getting alerts in the app that I'm almost out of storage and that even 'one more file' might break everything. Is this just marketing hype or something I need to be concerned about? The latest alert is an email that says: Notice: Your files are about to stop syncing, **** Here's access to up to 3 TB (3,000 GB) of space. There's limited space available in your Dropbox. Even adding just one more file might stop your account from syncing and being able to access them when you need to Yet when I go into my account settings on the top right of the Dropbox web app it confirms that I have 10.13GB. The shared folder takes about 8GB so I comfortably have space to spare. So do I just have to put up with annoying emails from Dropbox pushing me back onto paid plans now that I'm back to a free plan, or is there a danger of any consequences? Thanks! Hi everyone, I'm still encountering an issue with a Dropbox friend referral where I'm trying to earn the 500MB bonus storage. I sent the invitation back in 2016. The referral was marked as "ineligible," and I initially considered it might be due to shared computer access, but I can now confirm that the friend I invited did not install or log in to Dropbox on the same computer I used to send the invitation. Given this new information, I'm trying to understand why the referral might still be ineligible. Here are my updated questions: 1. Could the age of the invitation (sent in 2016) be a factor in the referral's ineligibility now? Are there expiration dates or limitations on older referral links? 2. What are the specific steps a referred friend needs to take to ensure the referral is successful and I receive the 500MB bonus under the current program? 3. If the issue isn't related to a shared computer, what are some other common reasons for referral ineligibility that I should consider? 4. Is it possible that the referral program terms or the bonus amount offered in 2016 were different and are no longer valid? 5. Should I try sending a new referral invitation to the same friend now? Would that have a better chance of being successful under the current program? Any insights into how the referral program has evolved since 2016 or common pitfalls to avoid would be greatly appreciated. As a Basic user, direct email support options seem limited, so I'm hoping the community can offer some guidance. Thanks in advance for your help!101Views0likes7CommentsI've suddenly run out of space after 13 yrs and lots of referral space
Been using dropbox for a very long time and back in 2014 I worked hard through their promotion and got a lot of referral storage and managed to claw up to 25GB of space and today I find myself out of space. I am not able to sync from my computer even. I cant find any help sadly and I am not that savy with computers either. I've just spent a few hours making my way here. :-( please help.Solved98Views0likes3CommentsFinding it impossible to earn space from successful referrals
Dear Dropbox, The last few times that I have referred a friend to Dropbox by directly emailing the link that I originally obtained from Dropbox, they have installed the app and acknowledged their email address, but nothing has appeared on my referrals page and no space has been released. Could it be that I emailed the link directly, which is what I used to do, rather than messaging them through the referrals page? (Direct emailing used to work.) I am happy to send the most recent friend email address direct to Dropbox (rather than publish their address on a public forum) so that the issue can be investigated and hopefully corrected? All the best, Greg53Views0likes7CommentsI haven't received the referral space for an account that I invited to Dropbox.
Dear Team Dropbox I have refer Dropbox to my friends on 16th Feb 2025, mostly all are accepted and make a new account on Dropbox and install app. I got bonus space as well but 2 accounts are followed all steps but my referral page showing that "invitation sent". what is the process to get that bonus space? please help regards Saqib51Views0likes3CommentsI keep seeing errors that my storage is full and syncing isn't possible, but that's not true.
Hi guys, I periodically receive errors that my storage is full and sync is paused. I am using Basic 2GB but received additional storage a long time ago. I have over 1.7GB of free storage. I tried to upload something and it is working - so the error message is not valid. Is it possible to somehow stop these messages? It looks like the logic behind it is just checking my current plan (2GB) and my used space (3.6GB). Any ideas on how to get rid of it? Thank you all!27Views0likes3CommentsI lost 3GB of storage after my account was supposedly converted back to Basic.
Hi, I've had a Basic plan with 10.4GB of storage for years. I got an unexpected email yesterday saying I'm "back on Dropbox Basic" because my admin took no action on a free trial. I didn't sign up for a free trial, and I've never been paying. Any idea why I lost 3GB of storage capacity? How can I figure out what happened and how to fix it?155Views0likes21Comments
