I loaded Dropbox on a new Mac. Instead of the current Dropbox account, it keeps loading an old one under a different email address. I have followed these recommended steps, but in #4, Dropbox does not offer the option to sign in again that I can find. I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times. I have a paid account. Suggestions? "1. Sign out of the app. 2. Open Dropbox.com in your web browser and sign out there as well. 3. Sign in to Dropbox.com using the correct email address. 4. Then try signing back in to the Dropbox app on the computer.26Views0likes1Comment2017 iMac Ventura stuck in "connecting components" after trying to upgrade to new file system
I was prompted to upgrade to the new file system, so I did. It said it would take 5 minutes... I've tried re-installing so many times. Deleting the library application support folder, deleting the app. My files are not on my computer and now i have no dropbox folder. It just says "Connecting Components" permanently. I need to install the Desktop App for Selective Sync. I've downloaded the Fedora rpm and installed it. I installs a filemanager. When I click on the 'open dropbox app' the screen blinks and is redisplayed. What are the steps for installing the Dropbox app? ThanksSolved50Views0likes5CommentsUbuntu stuck in "Starting ..." and no Dropbox folder location is shown
Hi, my symptoms are very similar to what other posts have reported, after connecting a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 installation dropbox is stuck in status "starting ....". I raised the `fs.inotify.max_user_watches` as suggested in several threads, but frankly, my older laptop with Ubuntu 24.04 and far more files is happy at default 65536. However, when opening the graphical settings on the stuck machine, in the `Sync` tab there is no folder location configured, and clicking on "Move" does not open a selector to choose another location. The $HOME/Dropbox is formatted as ext4, not encrypted, and mounted upon startup. => What could prevent Dropbox from knowing the Dropbox location after installation ? How to manually set it as a workaround ? Yours, SteffenSolved530Views1like6CommentsThe Dropbox desktop app is stuck on starting on Mac OS
I can't get past the "starting..." stage on the DB app. I've uninstalled, cleared everything related to DB from my computer, downloaded fresh, installed again. Everything I can think of. Always, the menu bar icon stays gray and the pulldown shows "Starting..." I've let it sit for days, no luck. I can get to my account via dropbox.com as usual. It's the app that's not working. I've unlinked the account and relinked it. I must be missing something. FWIW, this happens on both my Macbook Pros, a new M3 and an M1. And I've read old messages about this problem... so, a new query. Ideas please?1.2KViews0likes26CommentsDropbox not syncing even after reinstalling
So here's a doozy. I've recently reinstalled my windows. My Dropbox folder was on a secondary drive, so didn't get formatted. I have reinstalled Dropbox, and pointed it to the old dropbox folder. It spent a few days indexing, and decided then that it needed to upload and download a bunch of files. This is all fine, but it's not actually _doing_ that. It just knows that the files have to be done, adding new files will up the counter, but it's not doing anything. I can sometimes click on the icon in the bottom right corner and it'll suddenly go to 75 kbps, jumping down to 20 and then back to nothing (just no speed indicator at all) I've reset ownership, i've reinstalled the application. I'm at a loss. I've been googling for a few days now, trying loads of suggestions from this forum but i cannot figure it out. Who can help me? Dropbox was working fine before i reinstalled.Solved771Views0likes6CommentsProblem starting Dropbox client on Linux
I'm having some difficulty getting a new Dropbox client operating on a Linux machine. (I'm using Gentoo Linux, using current net-misc/dropbox and dropbox-cli versions.) Nothing I've done has resulted in the creation of the ~/Dropbox directory, there is no evidence that syncing is actually occurring, and a separate login to Dropbox.com shows no connection from the new device. I start with dropbox-cli start -i which automatically creates the ~/.dropbox and ~/.dropbox-dist directories, but not ~/Dropbox. It does start up a browser, allowing me to login directly from the target machine, and when I've finished it declares that "Your device is now connected to Dropbox", or something similar. However, nothing shows up under connected devices, and there is little if any evidence of sync-ing activity (which might be difficult without a ~/Dropbox directory in place). (Creating the directory manually appears not to help, either.) I acknowledge that I've not given the maximum amount of detail here, but what I've described is essentially everything I've attempted. I'm puzzled why multiple statements to the effect that the device is now connected (I tried the above several times) still do not reflect an actual connected device, or sync-ing activity. I guess it's possible that a sync is underway, but is proceeding at an absolutely glacial pace; there is a directory /tmp/Temp-xxxxxx created, which however has no content. (The network connectivity is very fast FWIW.) Any troubleshooting pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Solved55Views0likes5CommentsInstalling Dropbox desktop app for Windows to Program Files instead of x86 Program Files
Is there any way to modify Dropbox installation procedure so that it installs to Program Files folder instead of Program Files (x86)...? e.g. with some parameter after dropbox-install.exe If not when is it in schedule to change the folder? Dropbox is one of only programs left that I have that installs to Program Files x86. The program seems to be already 64-bit so it could very well be located in Program Files with majority of other apps.46Views0likes3CommentsTravelling overseas to China, the macOs APP "Reconnecting to the internet.
