Hi, tldr; scanned document didn‘t finish the upload without showing errors or any trace of the file; how to recover the data? Last days I had to scan a lot of documents and though there was a weak connection everything went fine initially. A couple of the uploads were stuck, some waiting, some with errors. All of them finished when I took a break in a wifi hotspot and all those files are safe on the server. The last document had many pages (>50), so I didn‘t wonder when the sandbox showed for a longer time. As everything went fine before, I changed the app and worked on something else. When I switched back to Dropbox App minutes later, there was no sign of any upload running, nothing in the queue, no errors. And no trace of my big file anywhere. In the meantime I also checked the events, but no surprise, the server didn‘t catch this one. Question: Is there any chance to recover the pages of the scan and redo the upload? I have spent a long time to adjust dozens of corners and the original documents are not so easy to access again. The file must have been generated somewhere locally on my device, so can I retrieve that with some ios tools? I didn‘t close the app nor did I restart the device, so I have still some hope. I use browsers and the apps on iPad and iPhone. The scan was taken with the DropBox App 404.2.2 on iPhone 13 running IOS 18.1.1 with plenty of memory space left on iPhone and Dropbox server.Solved21Views0likes3CommentsHow to reset my camera uploads, I tried everything
Hi! I need to force the Android app to re-upload all the photos in my gallery. I set it up so it uploads everything, not just new photos, but it will only upload new items. I believe it recognizes older pics as "already uploaded" and I don't know how to reset this. I have already: -re-installed the app -deleted the cache memory -deleted all files in the Dropbox camera upload folder -restarted the device -even tried from a new device with a different SD card but with the same files in it Still, Dropbox will only upload new files. I also tried manually uploading but due to the fíes being cover 1500, the app never stops processing the files and never uploads anything. I'm on Android 12 and no other apps are set toSolved7KViews1like74CommentsMy videos are automatically uploaded to Instagram. How can I stop it?
Something has changed here for the worse. Why is Dropbox making decisions for me without my permission?? I have uploaded a video which then I was going to post to Instagram FROM my Instagram account, in the process of which I need to add collaborators, tag people, add description etc. But the moment my video was uploaded, I saw it said UPLOADED TO INSTAGRAM. What????? I did NOT select or authorise an auto upload. I don't allow anything auto as I need to control the process with additional information and action. Idid NOT link my Instagram account with Dropbox. So where and how exactly it has posted my video? When I searched online, the instructions I found are confusing as I can't find anything they are talking about. So here are my questions: 1. I did NOT select or authorise an auto upload. I don't allow anything auto as I need to control the process with additional information and action. Why is Dropbox posting my uploaded videos to Instagram without my permission? How does it decide that the video reel is for Instagram? It might be for a completely different purpose NOT to be published in Insta!!! 2. How can I stop it? Online posts say I need to change the BACKUP setting under Preferences - but I do NOT have this option there. This is terribly confusing and frustrating. I want to be able to upload a video without an AI deciding what it is and what to do with it !!! That's something I DECIDE and did NOT give the Dropbox AI my permission to do anything on my behalf!! 3. Does it actually post those videos to the account timeline? Some online post say that this is a BACKUP. So is it a backup or it is actually posted to Instagram?? I didn't wait to check and quickly deleted the video. I can't risk it being posted without me doing what I need to do with it first. Where exactly is this BACKUP setting? I can't see it anywhere in my dashboard. Could someone please explain this mess to me and tell me how the heck can I STOP all those auto decisions by AI on my account. In the meantime I have to use my email to upload this reel from my phone. thanksSolved127Views0likes12CommentsApple Photos has caused Dropbox mobile camera uploads to upload duplicate images
for years I've been using Dropbox's "camera uploads" feature to upload my iPhone's photos. I also have a separate location on dropbox with a TON of photos from other cameras/sources in a random folder called "photos". recently I thought I would be make my "photos" folder sync local to my Mac, use Apple Photos to to catalog all of it. unfortunately, this causes dropbox to see ALL the photos, to then populate my iPhone and upload them all back into "camera uploads" -- now I have tens of thousands of duplicates, and every time dropbox launches it continuously uploads a ton of duplicate pictures.34Views0likes5CommentsCamera Uploads IOS 18 on iPad not working correctly
I have upgraded to iOS 18 on my iPad and updated the Dropbox app. I turned Camera Uploads on, with Upload from set to Camera Roll and Back up set to All Photos. Nothing is uploaded, even though my Camera Roll has over 16,000 photos. Uploading manually is not an option, as there is no Select All function. In addition, manual upload only allows 400 photos at a time. The new iOS 18 Photos app no longer has a folder named 'Camera Roll', so I'm wondering if that is the problem? I logged out of the Dropbox app and back in, which then took me through Set Up your Dropbox. The Upload Photos option seemed like it would work if I chose Imports, but again there is no Select All option. So I went back to the Camera Uploads settings and turned Camera Roll off, and Recently Saved (under Smart Folders) on. Same thing, nothing uploads. I'm stumped!92Views0likes5CommentsUploading images/videos from iPhone resets the name to today's date instead of its creation date
Hello Dear Dropbox-Team, I find it very useful that Dropbox changes the names of my images and videos to this uniform format "[Foto|Video] DD.MM.YY, HH MM SS.[jpg|png|mp4|...]" when I upload them from my iPhone using the client. For example, my image named "IMG_1234" will be named "Foto 01.01.20, 12 59 55". This helps me a ton to organise my images/videos on a separate drive by sorting by name, since the date is embedded in the filename. Unfortunately, this does not work for all images. After uploading some of my images, the creation date is reset to today's date, which breaks this organisation system. I have not changed the metadata on these images, but it still happens. Is there a way to make the naming convention consistent, propably with a fix? Thank you in advance for answering my question 🙂411Views0likes9CommentsCan't create MS Word docs in Dropbox anymore
I'm a long-term user of Dropbox and I love it's use ability and function. To my dismay, in the past year or so I seem to have lost the ability to create Microsoft Word documents in Dropbox. This is a feature I used regularly, and now it seems to be a long and clumsy process. Let me explain how it used to work and now doesn't. I would go into Dropbox on my Android phone, Select the folder I wanted to create the Microsoft Word document in and then Select the "Plus Symbol" found in the blue circle :blue_circle: found floating on lower right hand corner (that option is still there) after selecting the Plus Sign we are presented with an option to "Create or upload file" After selecting that option, I would be presented with a drop-down list of files I could create. These would include the 3 native Dropbox options of "Paper" "Text File" & 'Upload Files" as well as a list of Microsoft file types, which included MS Word & Excel and maybe PowerPoint. I would then select MS Word, and a MS Word document would be created and MS Word App would be seamlessly be activated and away I would go, creating content and saving it safely in Dropbox. Happy days! Now unfortunately when I select "Create or upload file" only the 3 native Dropbox options appear, no longer can I select a Microsoft Document type. I'm not sure why this change has occurred, and there is a work around I've found, but it's clumsy and time consuming and certainly doesn't have the elegance of what I was used to with seamless integration and function. My question is, how can I get the elegant integrated "create" MS Word option/ solution in Dropbox back, I don't want a clumsy work around.494Views0likes7CommentsShow destination folder name/path for 'Share to Dropbox'
Android OS: Share>Upload to Dropbox>'Choose upload location': That dialog window does not show the name/path of the destination folder it is displayingto the user. Often this forces the user to tap 'back' several times to see what node of the folder tree the app will send the file(s) to. If the user hasn't done a recent 'Share>Add to Dropbox' operation, they have no memory of what the last destination folder path was. Please help the user know right away the name/path if the default destination folder. Thank you. P.S. I wish this feedback system would allow for screenshots to be uploaded.792Views2likes12Comments
