Just like others have shared, the option to remove myself from a shared folder is not appearing. I needed to upload some large files to an organization's dropbox, which is owned by the organization. I am not the owner of any of the individual files or folders yet I still can't remove myself. I also am technically out of space so I can't add the last file I need to for this folder -_-... I am thinking if I can remove myself and then re-add it, I can add that last file and be done with it. I don't need access to it regularly, the whole point is transferring these files to this organization.37Views0likes8CommentsCan't upload material to a link from someone else's account?
I'm trying to upload 1.5tb of data to a link on someone else's account. They have expanded their data quota to allow for this much data, however the dropbox upload keeps failing at my end. the 1.5TB of data is a collection of raw video media (so it's several hundred thousand files within a series of folders) When I tried to upload this via Apple Safari, the upload repeatedly stopped. I was uploading by loading the URL for the upload link to my friend's dropbox account, and then either dragging & dropping the files onto the upload link or using the folder hierarchy to navigate through the folders to select the material from an external hard drive. I've tried swapping to using Google Chrome for the upload, and now the upload link is asking for my name & email address (as per image below). this link wasn't asking for this information on the Safari web page; why am I being asked to submit my name & email? I've tried putting in my name & email address on the google page Further, the google chrome link doesn't appear to be working either45Views0likes1CommentApproving a shared file from email gives me an error
I have called support 2-3 times about this problem. It is hurting drop box reputation for reliability especially when the problem occurs during a critical communication with my clients. The problem: I have a pdf document to share with my client: I send an invite from my app or website and everything goes fine. Then I get an email asking me to approve the file I just sent to them!!! To make things worse, I then press the approve button and I get the stupid unicorn error. I was guided to an obscure unclear setting that worked once and then failed again. This is painful to users on both ends of the share process.65Views0likes5CommentsThe whole sharing UI needs a revamp
Managing shared folders and permissions on dropbox is extremely painful and needs an urgent revamp. Sharing a folder is fine, but as soon as you have multiple shared folders which are shared with multiple people where not everyone has access to everything it becomes a nightmare to manage. There is no way to see which folders a "User" has access to so if you want to unshare all folders with a specific user the only way I have found is to go through each and every shared folder you have to check if that person is on the share list. If this could be done from one screen it would be acceptable but currently you have to drill down and it can take ages. I would like one screen where I can see all shares (as is the case now) but clicking on a folder shows all people that have access, on the same screen, with an easy way to manage. Select multiple and remove them all at once etc. At the same time, I would like to see the reverse so a list of people who have access to shared folders and in one click see what they have access to and manage that. What would also be nice is to permission groups, so instead of sharing multiple folders with a person I can just add them to a group that has access to those folders. And again, an easy and intuitive way of managing this.38Views0likes3CommentsDropbox Sign Bulk Send isn't working
When trying to use the "Bulk Send" feature, I receive errors telling to me to contact support which I have done for several days now with no response. Does anyone know how to help me resolve this issue? I have an urgent need to sent out a bunch of contracts this afternoon.25Views0likes2CommentsWe can no longer add an expiration date or password for our shared links on Family.
Hello, We used to be able to set a password or expiry time for shared files and folders in Dropbox Family. Now this this has been disabled with a prompt to upgrade to "Dropbox Professional". Have certain features been removed from the Dropbox Family plan ? Given that I'm on a "Grandfathered" plan (not sure that's the right word), I have not been notified that any features had been removed. I paid annually and assumed features would remain the same. Dropbox doesn't publicly list the Dropbox Family plan anymore, even though it's listed publicly. Thanks in advance.71Views0likes5CommentsDoes Dropbox have location-based sharing restrictions?
Hi, I’ve embedded a Dropbox shared folder into my application and enabled the "Anyone with the link" option for both viewing and editing permissions. However, it’s been noticed that several users are unable to access the training files (shared folder). Specifically: For the "Team India Production" team, some members have access to the folder, while others do not. Similarly, this issue seems to be affecting members of the US team as well. This has led me to wonder if there are any implicit access restrictions in place—such as location-based permissions—or other factors affecting access. I want to give permission for all staffs I’d like to know: Does Dropbox have any location-based restrictions or region-specific permissions that could explain this issue? Are there any known solutions to ensure consistent access for all users, regardless of their location? Any guidance or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!67Views0likes3CommentsOne of my shared links can't be accessed without logging in to Dropbox first.
Hello, I recently uploaded a .mov file into my new dropbox. I copied a link and made sure in the permissions that anyone with the link could view the video. I made sure it worked by opening the link in incognito and on another friend's device. The link worked as intended. However, today, the link says you need to sign in to protect the file. After signing in on a different account, it says you need to request permission to view the file. If I copy the "sharable link" on my original account again, this link works. But I need the older link that worked yesterday, under the SAME permissions, to work and allow anyone with it to view the file. Has anyone had a similar issue?Solved151Views0likes6CommentsHow can we restrict who can share to groups?
I'm currently facing an issue where certain users in our Dropbox environment have the ability to share things in Team folders that they have access to. While the sharing feature works great for sharing with specific other employees, sometimes people share to the Everyone At group where it results in hundreds of employees receiving email notifications that something has been shared with them. It is usually immediately unshared, but then that just creates a lot of confusion. For some context, we are in the process of migrating from local shared folders to Dropbox, and all groups other than the Everyone At group are IT-managed through AD sync. We would also like to keep the Everyone At group of possible for us to share out any documents to all employees if needed. Is there a way to restrict a users ability to see groups, or to restrict their ability to share to them?21Views0likes1Comment
