Hi there, I missed a large amount of files in a few folders (photos and videos mostly) from my Dropbox. I have them synced to my Macbook. I didn't delete any of them and this morning they just disappeared. I checked the the "Events" page on Dropbox web, and there was no indication that I moved or deleted my files. There were not in trash either. Please help!1.8KViews1like28CommentsAll files Dropbox in my personal account, were entirely deleted by Dropbox.
This is stunning and insult to injury Dropbox is a brick wall and provides no way to contact them for customer support. I opened the files Saturday and was very confused to see only prompts for tutorials on starting using DropBox. There is nothing I perceive in deleted files, etc. I unfortunately had not saved my computer in past 6 months or so. Very upset and shocked. There were interviews with a woman then in her 80s about her experience during WWII. She has since died. I also lost the last version of my book I based on her experience. Any help in restoring these files would be greatly appreciated.49Views0likes11CommentsHow can I select multiple files to delete at once?
I upgraded my dropbox recently to 1 TB of cloud memory because I have a security camera that records and uploads. We have the camera inside the house and it records anytime there is movement. I don't need to keep or access the video files unless something bad happens, so I've been deleting them. I came to find out they go to the 'Deleted file' folder and I'd like to delete them permanently on a regular basis, rather than have them use up cloud storage. I've not found a way to select all the files at once to do this efficiently. Is there a way, and if not, when will this be added? It's ridiculous to have to select files one by one without having an option to select all. Please let me know when you plan on adding this, as if you don't have a difinitive answer (date) then I will need to look to another option for cloud storage. Thanks.Solved9.2KViews1like12CommentsHow can I recover my Dropbox account and files?
I have used Dropbox for at least 10 years. In particular, I use it for sharing my tax info with my Federal & State returns. Much to my surprise, I can no longer find anything!. It is literally as if the Dropbox folks forgot I ever had an account! When I attempted to log in with my old credentials I was invited to "join". Seemed strange, but I plunged ahead and gave my name and was asked if I wanted to "upgrade." I said no. But it now seems I have a new basic account.... with no files! What am i missing?14Views0likes1CommentI'm missing an important document, and have no idea what I can do to retrieve it.
I have been a Dropbox user since 2011. I'm a professor and have always assumed my files were safe. Last week, one disappeared - and it is a whole academic publication. That is my original intellectual property. Losing that work has significant implications for my professional reputation and career. I have already missed the deadline for submission. I have opened a ticket.I have done the extensive trouble shooting with multiple agents. They transfer me to email, then send me requests to grant permission. The link they said is invalid. Day go by, There are no responses to my emails. I open new chat. They tell me to wait. One consultant said my case was escalated. Another said it's closed/solved. I just need my work back. I can't really believe a company that you may a subscription to firstly fails on the grounds of keeping your work safe, and then just gives you the runaround. I'm no closer to a solution, which is severely impacting my health and mental health27Views0likes8CommentsFiles maliciously deleted. How can I restore them?
Yesterday (1/31/25) a terminated employee deleted 50 files out of various Dropbox folders before we could remove his access. We need help recovering those files. Despite the Help instructions we consulted there is NO link or other area where we have found these deleted files. Not new to Dropbox but new to the community. Hello to all and thanks for patience as I am sure someone likely asked this question before.Solved24Views0likes2CommentsRestore Unsynced files
I lost a bunch of files when trying to activate selective sync to save space and I've been giving myself headaches trying to figure out how to get them back. At this point I would love to just upgrade to a paid plan with more storage and restore my files to where they were before the sync debacle. What subscription level would me this capability?34Views0likes4CommentsFiles disappeared after selective sync
I was trying to free up space and tried to use selective sync. As I understood it, the files I chose not to sync would be download to my computer. Unfortunately, what seems to have happened is that all my files from two programs (Reaper and Scrivener) have disappeared. The only thing I can find in my computer or on Dropbox are files with a "Recovered" tag that are un-openable. Removing the checkmark in Slective Sync has resulted in the Recovered file folders moving to dropbox, but they remain inaccessible. Is there a way to go restore my dropbox to what it looked like before I did the selective sync? I understand this feature isn't available with the Basic version, but could I recover my files if I upgraded?13Views0likes2Comments
