Question or Issue I'm a pro photographer and I use dropbox to deliver photos to my clients. I number each photo (i.e. "Smith-1, Smith-2, Smith-3, etc...). Dropbox used to share them in order (lowest number to highest) now they share in reverse order (highest number to lowest). I want to change this back to the way it was but I'm having no luck figuring it out. Any help??Solved82Views0likes5CommentsCalculate all sizes
I feel like I'm living in a parallel universe or have time travelled back to 1985 but I would like to propose a simple, brilliant, obvious, missing feature: The ability to calculate sizes of multiple Dropbox folders. So that I can select hundreds of Dropbox folders (in the web version to get a true picture of actual storage) then calculate all sizes, then sort in size order. This has been a part of most operating systems for what, 20+ years? But Dropbox doesn't facilitate it. A cynic might suggest that it's a deliberate move to avoid customers seeing what is taking up space and choosing to delete, using up less space and therefore spending less money. But surely Dropbox wouldn't treat their customers in such a way...? I've been a loyal customer - and advocate - for many years in the face of cheaper competitors but this has honestly blown my mind.26Views0likes1CommentDropbox keeps sorting my files based on when I last accessed them, instead of alphabetically.
Question or Issue In the past year or so Dropbox changed the way my files are listed so instead of opening and searching for files in alphabetical order as I set them up, they are now listed under the month last opened. I did not request this and cannot search this way. How can I stop this? I should add that sometimes my files do appear in normal alphabetical order and other times they appear in this crazy month order. I canât figure out why it goes one way or the other.Solved81Views0likes6CommentsSearching IPTC keywords on the website: Why does Dropbox only kinda work?
Trying to use DB to store photos that have IPTC keywords applied to them. All information I find seems to say this should work, but when I do a search for a keyword only a few of the images with that keyword end up showing as search results. (Doing this via a browser window with Mac Safari) Anyone have experience with this? Why does this only kinda work? It doesn't make sense to me and is very frustrating! Am I doing something wrong?53Views0likes2CommentsEnable Emoji in file names.
I use emojiâs to help me find things quicker. I would like to add an emoji from the apple keyboard to the file folder name but when I click on rename and add the emoji it says âinvalid folder name...the folder name contains invalid charactersâ. Here is an example I wish to change âVehicles and DOTâ folder to say âđVehicle and DOTâ36KViews96likes32CommentsDisplay the last modification date for folders in normal view.
Displaying the date of the last modification. The information is available because when you open the folder info, you can see the date of the last modification, but in normal view, it only shows the date of modification of the files, not the folders.63Views0likes1CommentImperative: Camera Uploads Update
Hello. Can you please make it so that people are able to change the name of the "Camera Uploads" without it cancelling the automatic uploads after doing so and also make it so that people can simultaneously upload files from multiple albums in their device into separate folders on Dropbox? This will make it far easier everyone to organize everything, especially when sharing the folder(s) with others. Point 1: As of right now, if someone were to change the name of the "Camera Uploads" folder to something else, let's say to "Andrew's Content," the automatic uploads will completely cancel future automatic uploads into that folder and create a whole entire new folder, again named "Camera Uploads," resulting in 2 separate folders which is inefficient, can lead users to become very confused, and what can be seen as an error in the algorithm from my point of view. Point 2: If a business has multiple people sharing their "Camera Uploads" folder to them, that business has no way to distinguish between which "Camera Uploads" folder belongs to whom, nor is the business able to change the name of the folder for themselves on their end. This is a major problem. Point 3: When people want to set up automatic uploads from multiple albums in their phone named, let's call them 'Content 1,' Content 2,' and 'Content 3,' and have them saved in either the same and/or separate folders in Dropbox, they can't because it is not even a feature. Can you please look into this and make these, what I think would be very beneficial quality of life, updates? Thank you so much for your time and consideration! Thank you, Andrew188Views2likes5CommentsViewable tags next to folders/files when you try to preview them.
Hello Dropbox team đ I would really really love to be able to see tags appear besides the name of the files in any view, or folder, and on the mobile app, web version, and desktop app. Just a nice coloured tag left to the star icon would be wonderful. Yes, I know at Dropbox you are not a big fan of small, seemingly unnecessary cutomizations that don't serve an immediate and measurable purpose, but making customers happy is very important (here by improving UI and UX significantly and seemlessly for a small amount of time and effort). I'm sure the intern could figure it out in three days. Also if you are hyper motivated you can add a filter for tags to sort files (but NOT necessary, making them visible and coloured is already a great improvement). Here is what I imagine when I say tags: For colours you can do just like in Notion, where you can choose from pre-determined colours:208Views4likes4CommentsPreserve file Creation Dates(and other metadata) in mobile app versions
The ability to preserve, view, sort by, etc the original Creation Dates(and other metadata) of files is missing or severely limited in the Dropbox mobile apps. People who donât use Dropbox primarily for business purposes on a computer but, as many of us do these days, use our smartphones as our primary(or only) method of keeping track of media/documents/audio files/etc are having to deal with the frustrating situation of trying and failing to backup/reorganize/download to another mobile device/etc our files without losing this extremely important file metadata. I canât even view ANY file information on non-photo files, and the photos are difficult to even upload with a title that reflects the actual creation date. If not uploaded at a painful 1 image at a time (and many times not even then) the file name will be changed to the upload date/time. The creation date is ALWAYS listed as the upload time or the last time that it was moved, downloaded, re-uploaded, etc. Thereâs no sort by CREATION date, only sort by Modification date which is just a complete denial of basic file management for those of us who manage all of our files on mobile phones and tablets. We desperately need full file information accessibility for Dropbox mobile apps⊠ESPECIALLY the ability to preserve and sort by the ORIGINAL file creation dates⊠and to not lose access to those creation dates when moved, renamed, downloaded, re-uploaded, etc, but to keep them intact despite all modifications. Creation dates and modification dates can be preserved separately without sacrificing one for the other, as long as the filesâ metadata remains intact.6.8KViews22likes26CommentsGive us the option to export/download comments
It would be extremely helpful to have the ability to download a PDF (or image, or other file types) with comments included. Alternatively, could there be a way save out just the comments as it's own downloadable format? If a file is changed, the comments disappear into the ether. This would help streamline our workflow and help keep track of changes/comments/conversations. Currently we screenshot every page with comments to keep track of edits.
