Is it possible to prevent long filenames being shortened from the end? My filenames need to have the whole name displayed, rather than having the end characters chopped off. These "end" characters identify the various versions of the same file. Many thanks, JohnF3.1KViews27likes12CommentsDownload progress/status bar when using the mobile app on Android
When using the mobile app, it would be great to have a download notification/progress bar. I usually download videos which take a minute or two to download but, I am sat waiting until I see the 'Exported' notification pop up. The ability to preserve, view, sort by, etc the original Creation Dates(and other metadata) of files is missing or severely limited in the Dropbox mobile apps. People who don’t use Dropbox primarily for business purposes on a computer but, as many of us do these days, use our smartphones as our primary(or only) method of keeping track of media/documents/audio files/etc are having to deal with the frustrating situation of trying and failing to backup/reorganize/download to another mobile device/etc our files without losing this extremely important file metadata. I can’t even view ANY file information on non-photo files, and the photos are difficult to even upload with a title that reflects the actual creation date. If not uploaded at a painful 1 image at a time (and many times not even then) the file name will be changed to the upload date/time. The creation date is ALWAYS listed as the upload time or the last time that it was moved, downloaded, re-uploaded, etc. There’s no sort by CREATION date, only sort by Modification date which is just a complete denial of basic file management for those of us who manage all of our files on mobile phones and tablets. We desperately need full file information accessibility for Dropbox mobile apps… ESPECIALLY the ability to preserve and sort by the ORIGINAL file creation dates… and to not lose access to those creation dates when moved, renamed, downloaded, re-uploaded, etc, but to keep them intact despite all modifications. Creation dates and modification dates can be preserved separately without sacrificing one for the other, as long as the files’ metadata remains intact.5.8KViews17likes13CommentsNeed to be able to print the entire file structure for any account
I know other people have suggested this but I'm just adding my two cents worth - Being able to download/print the entire file structure for your records or to share with others - would save having to manually record it in a spreadsheet. Not sure why there hasn't been any action on it since 2019 - too hard perhaps?3.6KViews25likes22CommentsRecursive automated tagging
Auto tagging files in a given folder, for both new and existing files works well, but only in that one folder. And files in sub folders are not tagged automatically, and needs a manual process to add the tag automation to any subfolders. In addition, if we duplicate a folder, the automation settings are not retained, so need setting up again from scratch. We would love to be able to have these ideas incorporated - Dropbox add functionality to “apply to existing subfolders” and “apply to newly created subfolders” (or even BOTH) - Dropbox allow copied folders to retain automation from template structure, i.e. if we set automation rules up on a folder, and it's subfolders, if we duplicate that folder, the automation rules be retained on the new duplicated folders. Basically saves us having to add automation to every single sub folder for a given structure. - Dropbox adapt the functionality to actually ADD the metatag TO the file itself rather than ONLY within the dropbox database.1.6KViews2likes6CommentsOptions to change the file/folder icon in the Dropbox app
Hello, PLEASE please allow me to change the files icons to be relevant! I want easily to sort my files but with these blank blue file icons it’s makes organising files not enjoyable. I work with physical stuff, laser cutting, painting, hand crafts, CAD software, sculpting and a bunch of other things that are non computer based. Having icons or images that are relevant to me when scanning through files would not just speed up but give a sense of personalisation and organisation which helps my process when organising vastly different topics in the organisation stage. Thumbnails for files basically…… thanks!779Views3likes7CommentsOrganizing Starred Folders
I would like to be able to alphabetize my starred folders. Our company uses drop box for all of our hundreds of projects. As a project manager I utilize the star feature to quickly access the projects I am working on. There is no way to alphabetize these folders once starred so it is becoming difficult to navigate through the list.21KViews17likes7Comments- 40KViews149likes81Comments
