Hi, I have a free individual Dropbox membership. I'm a member of a local Rotary Club that has a Corporate Dropbox account. I'm able to access documents in the Rotary drop box (e.g. view documents, download document). However, I have not been able to upload documents into the Rotary Dropbox. I keep getting the error message that I need to upgrade my account to increase my storage. I've uploaded documents to other Corporate Dropbox accounts before without having to have a paid membership. any ideas why I'm having trouble with the Rotary Dropbox? Thanks,Solved2.1KViews0likes4CommentsCan I download entire folders from the Dropbox app to my mobile device?
I'm New to using cloud based storage. I'm using Dropbox and onedrive right now and and have been organizing all my documents and pics intl file folders or albums, whichever you prefer to call them. So today dropbox has informed me I'm out of storage. So what I'm trying to figure out is how do I download a folder back to my hard drive? I can do it file by file but that defeats the purpose of all the work I've put into organizing everything. Am I missing something or was what I did a waste of time? It doesn't even ask me what folder I want to drop it into when I download a file. I'm using a Samsung galaxy s21 5gSolved2.5KViews0likes6CommentsUnable to delete files... which cannot be unlocked
I am attempting to delete some rather large files from my wife's computer so she can update to the latest version, Big Sur, for her Macbook Air. She previously downloaded the files from her minister's Bible study forum on Dropbox. She can easily access them from Dropbox.com, so I thought it possible to delete her dropbox folder. Unfortunately, the files did not go away and the Dropbox folder doesn't show up in Finder. I found a lot of the files by searching for the large Zoom files. When I try to delete these files individually, they are locked and will not unlock. The system says she does not have the appropriate permission. I can't change the permissions. How can I delete these files? Note the following screenshot. The Dropbox folder appears to be located in the Documents folder, but it does not show up; it is hidden and I do not know how to unhide it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. About a week ago, for some reason all my "online only" files in my dropbox computer app suddenly changed the file sizes from the actual sizes to "zero KB"... I have two different Mac computers running OS High Sierra, and it happened to both of them at about the same time. At my job I also have access to three other Macs, but they all still show the actual file sizes for "online only" files... so what is up with this "zero KB" on the two Macs that I use??? It makes it hard to work with online only files when I have no clue how large they are... online chat was unable to help me. here's a screenshot of what I see: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zhnt413jfrjyv4d/online-only-zeroKB.png?dl=0 The only way I can see the files sizes now is to download the files locally. If I then switch them back to "online only" the file sizes change back to "zero KB"4.1KViews1like28CommentsHow can I have people add files to a folder without it taking up their space?
Hi all, I am a team member on a business standard plan. I created a link to a folder that I want to share with others that are not team members. I want them to be able to add files to the folder, but when I create the link, it only allows for those with the link to view. There is not an option in the settings where I can change it to can edit. I can invite members individually by inputting their email address and they can edit that way, but if I go this route, then the shared folder will take up space on each individual's dropbox and most people have the 2 gb free plan and don't have enough room. Can someone help guide me in how I can make a link for others to edit?Solved3.1KViews0likes4CommentsHow to Download your online DB files to an External Harddrive
Aloha, I'm trying to download something big to my external HD. It cannot fit on my computer harddrive so it has to go direct to the external drive. Please let me know how I can change the download directory setting (at least temporarily) to achieve this. I realize I could do it through windows but it will take a long time and I will need to download other files to the desktop in the meantime, so I prefer to change the setting within dropbox online. JUST FYI (I don't have the drobbox desktop app installed fyi and cannot fit the files on the desktop anyway) Thank you! Julie1.3KViews1like4Commentsrecover deleted files via dropbox
Hi there! Probably when I did, I was dense and made a stupid mistake. When I downloaded dropbox for my desktop, the system started synchronizing my desktop with the Dropbox acount. I stopped that, but the system created a reference folder from my desktop (in my mind not with all of my files, because I stopped the process) That was okay, but last Sunday I deleted the files inside that folder and the system deleted all my folders/files/everything from my desktop permanently. I tried to recover with concerning programs, (the program found things from 2015, but I found 0 sign from the searched files...) I checked the bin and even checked the dropbox version history/bin too, but there are no signs from my files. (Im using the free version) Do I have a chance to recover my stuff?Solved3.9KViews1like12CommentsFile sharing and invites to view/edit folders
Hello all, I'm new to the Dropbox space and have a question because I'm SO confused! I have a client who invited me to view folders and also to edit the folders. Does this affect my personal Dropbox account and how much space I have? I have a free account right now and would need to upgrade to view everything my client sent me. Is there a way to share the account so that my space isn't affected? Hope this makes sense! ThanksSolved1.5KViews0likes4CommentsI don't understand the most basic elements to Dropbox
I've never felt so dumb, but I really think it's just that Dropbox assumes I know something, and they're not making it totally clear. For reference, yes, I understand the most basic premise that I can store my files in the cloud (whatever that really is) and retrieve them from anywhere I have an internet connection. What I generally don't understand is the connection between my hard drive and the cloud and what is being used when, etc. etc. Specifically, I subscribe to Dropbox and download the app. Now let's say I use Excel. 1. I click File, Open, and I see among my choices my C: drive, some commonly used folders, and the Dropbox icon. Is that icon representing a storage area on my hard drive or a storage area in the cloud or both? Believe it or not, nothing I've read or watched precisely explains that. 2. I get out of there and am back in Excel. I create an Excel file from scratch, and I want to save it as TestFile, so I do a Save As and the same sort of box comes up with a lot of folders I can save to OR the Dropbox icon. If I save it to the Dropbox icon, where is that TestFile saved, precisely? To the hard drive, to the cloud, or to both? 3. If it's just being saved to the cloud, it appears that I'm screwed if the internet goes down. 4. Dropbox thinks it explains syncing, but again, it skips over the very basics. It keeps telling me that if I sync, I can save hard drive space. Well, maybe I don't understand syncing, but to me syncing is this: when I save a "syncing" file, it updates both on my hard drive and on the cloud, right? Isn't that what the word sync means? I mean, that's the benefit I'm really looking for here. Especially if #3 happens. 5. So, precisely how do I get #4 to happen like I think it should? That is, how do I ensure I will always have the most recent copy on both my hard drive and in the cloud? I mean, I can always save to the cloud, which means I can always copy my file on the hard drive into that Dropbox icon, but that's not syncing, that's just saving to two different places. 6. So, if there is a way to sync my files/folders like I want to do in #4, can I keep my hard drive folder structure th same, or do I have to build this file/folder structure under the Dropbox icon? If I want a folder that is currently C:\Documents\BirthdayParty to be updated both on the hard drive and cloud, what precisely do I have to do? Do I have to move it first under that Dropbox icon? So you see, Dropbox doesn't explain what's going on with hard drive vs cloud and what syncing precisely is, and that's why I have these elemental questions. Thanks to anyone patient for explaining this to me like I'm five.Solved7.3KViews12likes5Comments
